Many think that Preston Williams will take over as the lead dog at the receiver position this year. My gut feeling tells me that Malone will live up to that 5 star rating and have a breakout season...possibly around 900 yards. I look for him to be the go to receiver the whole season!!

I like the combo of Malone, Williams, Wolf and J. Smith. Best in the country in my opinion.

It seems like he and Dobbs have a good connection going in the passing game. I'm not diminishing what P-Will brings to the table, but I agree that Malone seems to be one of the go-to guys for Dobbs.

Man, I have held tightly to my high hopes for Josh over the past couple of years. Sad truth, though, is that if the spark doesn't take in two seasons, it is far less likely in the third season and beyond.

So, much as we all hope all our players excel, the chance of that happening with PWill is higher than it is with Malone, at this point.

Would love for Josh to come out this fall and prove me wrong. Throw us in that briar patch. :)

I would love to see it! Also do not go to sleep over young Mr. Jennings. The youngster is just too athletic and an aggressive football player to not make a significant impact this year as well!

I hope he blossoms this year. I watched the Georgia game again on youtube. Malone made a bigger impact in that game than I remembered.

If Dobbs can get the ball to him, Josh Malone and others can put up big numbers. Also, the running game may be too successful for the WRs to light up the score board.

I actually thought I saw a fair amount of "spark" in Malone last year, in some of our biggest games. Also, Robert Meachem blew up in year 3 after 2 average to subpar seasons......went from 29-383-2 as a sophomore to 71 catches, 1,298 yds and 11 tds as a junior.

Malone has all of the tools to be a great receiver, but he looks to me to be a streaky player and will need to be targeted a lot in a game to show his true potential. My worry for Malone would be that this offensive scheme just doesn't lend itself to targeting 1 receiver 8+ times a game, especially when they run so many receiver groups. I hope they stick with 1 or 2 groups (and might have to with lack the of receivers) this year and Malone gets a chance to show what he can do.

I don't think Dobbs trusts him for some reason. Thought the TDs against Bama and UGA would mean a lot more balls coming his way, but the few that were thrown to him were all short passes, a lot where he stopped, stared at Dobbs, and waited for the pass. Gotta hit him in motion to take advantage of his speed

He is defiantly in the money years now at UT, when Pros start taking more notice what you do on the field. I have been waiting for his true ability to come out, but honestly he plays like he is scared of being hit unless the ball is thrown perfectly.

I think Malone plays lazy? Not saying he is but he doesn't look like he really wants the ball when it is thrown his way. For now I will sleep on him, but I will wake up when he proves me wrong

Yeah, good points. Josh absolutely could prove me wrong. I sincerely hope so, we all win if he rocks out. :good!:

I think it is time for Malone to wake up and be aggressive on the football field. hHe should be ready to hit his stride. If not, they will find someone to pick up the slack. We have some pretty good WRs coming in this year.

the bottom line, in the last 3 years we've seen the M. North's of the world kind of sputter and flame out.

it's not a good thing when people are saying "he can be our next Pig Howard" or "josh smith is our most reliable receiver".

and that's got nothing to do with Pig or Josh, as much as it does have to say about the let downs some of these other guys have been.

it's time for the WR corp to step up.

I agree here. JM showed some spark in the Georgia game(trucking that dude down the sideline) as well as the Bama game(fighting hard for some contested completions)

He needs a consistent year for sure but the game design has to find a way to get 3-4 guys the ball consitently and keep them engaged. Josh seemed to play better in games where he was targeted more.

Couldn't agree with you more. He plays like he's lazy but I think it's his personality. He doesn't have the mind/drive to go all out. His focus is not always on the field it seems to me.

He has the dropsies as well. It is time for him to step up & be a 5 star recruit he was supposed to be coming into his freshman season. If he does, look out everybody.

We will have a very potent offensive attack to go along with what should be a potent defensive attack as well. Add to that one of the best special teams in the country & we should strike gold!
