(or least until Sunday)

AJC (in the article on the fired coaches) is again reporting that Georgia is going to the Chick fil A Bowl or Independence Bowl. I assume the former is contingent on Georgia Tech beating Clemson.

Personally, I don't care. The only tiime I'll be coming to the Georgia Dome again is when we win the SEC East again or possibly when we play the early season game in 2011 or 12 vs. the ACC team. I just hate the prospect of our fans getting the shaft if Georgia slides in.

I'm not counting any chicken until it makes it across the road. You don't want to know what happened to my possum. :cray:

That would be just our luck, getting shafted by two bowl games for two teams that finished behind us in the SEC.

If we do loose out on the Chicken Bowl, we should just vote to stay home regardless of the practice time. It would be sending a message to the SEC and these lower bowls that we are not going to put up with getting messed over.

If the conference does not want to provide the revenue sharing at the end of the year then tell them to cut out Vandy and Miss ST. also since they very rarely ever contribute anything to this conference.

If we are forced to go to a bowl I would play scrubs and use it as a practice game.

Posted this past hour:

The Vols technically still don't have official confirmation that Berry is getting his dream destination. But since word leaked out earlier this week that UT (7-5, 4-4 SEC) was destined for the Chick-fil-A Bowl, the rest of the league's bids have reportedly been spoken for and there doesn't appear to be much room left to maneuver.

Georgia Dome perfect for Berry GoVolsXtra

Which basically means we are megascrewed if UGA gets our bid.

If Tech beats Clemson then UGA-Clemson is a done deal. I do not get where Hyams is saying he is 98% sure that we are going Chicken.

I think we have a 90% chance of going to Atlanta. I heard the chairman of the bowl on the radio and he sounded like it was Tennessee.

earlier in the day on 104.5 here in Nashville they were saying that UT was still very much in play for the music city bowl. I thought they were crazy, but maybe not.

More like Shreveport.

We are going to Atlanta. It is a done deal. Too much money to be lost. They will not let the Hokie Smokie challenge go away. This is one of them off the field rivalries that alot of people don't know about unless you live in East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia.

I sincerely hope so. Anything less would be a slap in the face to our entire program, state, and fans.

Tennessee vs VT will be a sellout for sure. That bowl game doesn't operate like the crummy steakhouse one does. I would be shocked if UT isn't in that game.

I totally agree. I don't think they would change their minds, especially since all the ticket sales. That would not be very smart. Bruton Smith might have bought them out to keep his hopes alive for a showdown at BMS(LOL).

OK, let my give you a lesson in the politics of football in the South:

Why didn't we get in the Outback Bowl? Because we had played Wisconsin in 08? Nope. It was because the powerful University of Florida Alumni did not want UT in South Florida during recruiting season. Who do you think will pressure the Chicken Bowl to keep the Vols out of Georgia.....You guessed it, UGA.
