And even if she didn’t, Danny White’s resume is light years ahead of other previous candidates. He’s a top 10-15 AD in the country.

I thought Coach in his press conf said Hooker was not given the option to run; handoff to RB was the call.

On the fourth down call:

UT had seven players to block six Pitt defenders. The Vols lined up with five offensive linemen, a tight end and an H-back. Pitt had four down linemen and two linebackers on the edges.
The two linebackers crashed on Wright to make the tackle. If it was a read-option play, it appears Hooker should’ve kept the ball and run it around the end, or the blocking scheme should’ve accounted for all defenders.
“The communication up front to what we’re doing and how we’re blocking and how we’re reading things didn’t transpire the way that we need to,” Heupel said.

ON IF HENDON HOOKER HAD AN OPTION TO SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE ON THE FAILED FOURTH DOWN

“He didn’t have an option off of that. "

Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay Packers.

Perhaps you've heard of both. I trust the aforementioned are among the most talented and best coached at the highest level of football in the world.

They frequently run out of the shotgun on 4th and short.

Modern offense. Yes, I hate it, too. Even when the Pack does it. But lay off the Hype for the call. It's normal.

Seems to be a mixed bag of explanation.
Is it incorrect to say Hooker doesn't have option to switch to something else (a different play call) but still has the option to run since we have RPO in the game plan?

Don't suppose you'd know any conversion percentage stats comparing shotgun sets and power sets on 4th and short???

We he certainly didn’t get the job done in the hiring process last year even with the reported big money available. He needs to take some continuing education classes to get better at persuasion.

Heupel was way down our list at the beginning .

I know Vol fans really, really, really struggle with this concept…but you can’t make someone say yes because you have some money.

Not every play call is RPO. According to Heupel he didn’t have the option there. Listen at about 7:50

Yeah. That's the presser I referenced on some other discussion.
You may understand CJH's schemes better than me. If Hooker doesn't have the option to run, I think that is dumb especially since he's the more dynamic runner of our QBs. And, this 4th call was doomed by bad communication. Pitt collapsed the Interior of our O Line. Which to be fair, they could have done against a power run or QB sneak.
