Before you get one, consider whether you are okay with the constant hound dog howl and don't mind getting slimed with dog slobber all the time.

My son has one, beautiful and very smart dog. We have dog sat it a time or two, and it made me glad that it was his dog and not ours. I hate getting my pants slimed every time she drinks water and walks by you.

One time we were visiting my son and the dog was in the fenced in back yard, just howling that loud, piercing hound dog howl at us. My son looked at me, grinned and said "I love having the most obnoxious dog in the neighborhood!". :eek:lol:

That is every dog known to exist except little Pomeranian type monsters.

From my experience, I'd say that some are worse than others.

So long as people stay committed to their choice and don't dump them out in the country for folks like me to have to deal with, I'm fine with it.

Mousse doesn't really want to swim anymore. Everybody has said that I will know when it's time, and that might be his signal to me. Kindof hoping to show up one day and he is gone, like Matt Damon

It's a tough situation, I know. You need to evaluate if he is suffering and how much, and go from there. Sometimes loving them means recognizing it's time to spare them from an agonizing death. If, however, he's just slowing down in his old age but not showing many signs of pain and suffering, then he should definitely be allowed to live his life out as best he can.

We had a two year old black German Shepherd named Buddy who developed cancer in his esophagus. The decision came down to euthanizing him peacefully, or letting him starve to death. It was hard, especially because he was so young and we had rescued him from a hard situation and life was just getting good for him, and I still miss that goofy dog, but letting him die painlessly was the right decision to make.

I'm not telling you that story to influence your decision one way or the other. I guess I'm just trying to encourage you and sympathize with you somehow. I'll continue to lift you up in prayer for wisdom in this matter.
