Rocki’s and Topper’s Cookies
1 large container of Old Fashioned Oatmeal Divided
1 Very ripe banana
4 Eggs
½ Cup oil
½ Cup honey
¼ Cup molasses
½ Cup milk
¼ Cup vanilla
1 ½ Cups Extra Chunky peanut butter

In a food processer, process ½ of the oats until it reaches flour like consistency. Pour processed oats into a very large bowl and add the rest of the oats.

Put the banana, eggs, oil, honey, molasses, milk and vanilla in the processor and pulse until combined. Add peanut butter and pulse just until combined (You don’t want to break up the nuts to much.)

Pour mixture from processor onto oats and mix together thoroughly.

Pat into two greased cookie sheets. Cut with pizza cutter into what size suits your pup best. Bake at 325 for one hour.

Hmmm, I'll have to save this recipe.

Our pack has reached the size where it's difficult to dole out treats without one of them starting a dog fight, so we don't use dog treats as much as we used to. We could make some of these and just include them in each one's food bowl at feeding time.

The pack:

The smallest one, the wire haired Jack Russel terrier, is the one that starts most of the fights. Two of them are sisters that were starving when we found them (look for the matching white chest patches to identify the sisters).

This thread title scared me! I was afraid it was something like, "Take two cups of flour and a small doggie..."

Why would a few little words on your computer screen scare you 3 Rocky? :)

Dog names? Okay, going from left to right we have Violet, Charlie (the long haired German Shepherd), Speedbump (the Golden Retriever mix), Corrie (sister of Violet), Scrappy (the long haired Jack Russell) and Daisy.

Yeah, it's not always easy to get them to sit/stay or down/stay in a small area of the house to pose for their photo all together, but we try to do it once in a while just to get an updated photo. What you don't see is my wife just off screen holding up a dog treat to keep their attention and focus while I took the photo.

For those really interested (or bored), I linked each dog's name to their "story" about how they came to be with us.

Thanks, pattiy. Believe me, Scrappy earns her name. She looks scrappy and she gets into scraps with the other dogs, and she's probably the most spoiled of the bunch. She has this pitiful, whiny thing she does when she wants attention, complete with a shaking front leg. We figure she learned to do it at the dog shelter to get special attention from the folks there, and boy, does she know how to work it.

Daisy be checkin' out J-P!

Yeah, she still associates commands and obedience with security time, which she thoroughly enjoys. She is probably hoping to hear the "on" command so she can go into security mode.

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

Dachshund: You know I can’t reach that stupid lamp!

Rottweiler: Make me.

Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!

German Shepherd: I’ll change it as soon as I’ve led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven’t missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

Jack Russell Terrier: I’ll just pop it in while I’m bouncing off the walls and furniture.

Thanks! They do as much to lift our spirits and entertain us as we do for them.

Daisy definitely earns her keep. Nobody is going to sneak up on us while she's around. The local deer can't even sneak around the pastures without her noticing them.
