Ok cool. So why did he interview two guys with shady pasts and why did he strike out on both?
Who did we strike out on, I have yet to hear a confirmed offer to any. An interview is simply that. I don't know you very well, I'd like to have a sit down and see what and who you are about. Just like applying at Walmart, interviewing for a corporate job, driving up to a construction company, whatever. You get looked at, determined if you fit, asked any relevant questions, and then THEY make the decision to offer to a job. You aren't offered just because you applied or interviewed or asked. The most probable conclusion is Pruitt is interviewing multiple people until he has a fit found for what he is looking for. Some may want more money, some may want the ability to leave quickly, some may not actually fit in personality or philosophically. Many factors. This is his job, his one chance to make a huge step into the career he has worked for. It has to be what is best for him, which is what is best for our team, in his mind. Not yours, not mine. Whether it turns out to be good is impossible to know. This job isn't dependant upon one recruit, one play, one game, one staff hire. It took a decade to get us to this and multiple recruits, staffs, games and plays. It will take a long time to fully recover. Comparing Tennessee to any other institution is a waste of time. Other schools have different factors, some for, some against. It would take an entire book to outline those. Wringing your hands continually over every little single detail about every little thing, you might as well show up to the dorms and critique the toilet paper, flooring installation and lighting choices. Until the choice is made, we can only discuss the quality of the candidates and what we think about them. This is a fun time really. I love hearing about different up and coming coaches, recruits, and the like. I personally believe that we have the best coaching staff overall we've had since Fulmer, Cut, and Chief. If it is, in time, that will play out on the field and the results will pan out. Enjoy this, don't stress it so much.
