Does Malone leave for the NFL?

You guys saying he shouldn't go realize that if he had a good QB earlier in the season he has 200+ more yards and three more TDs, right? He is NFL good. Is he first round good? Nah. But not many are this year.

How the NFL rookie contracts work now guys go early and start working for there 2nd contract. Less he thinks he can become a first round pick next year there's no reason for him to come back.

Don't think the NFL is keen on signing WRs who wear panties about 80% of the time.....you can be a DIVA as a WR but you have to have the toughness to compete with NFL DBs.....Malone hasn't proven he can compete with aTm's DBs.....:salute:

I don't think he comes back to be honest.. its time to turn a new leaf now..what more is he going to show you? lets move on and go with some of these young guys..to be honest I think Brandon Johnson is going to be more of a productive wr than Malone mark my word..lets see what callaway can do..I know dobbs aint the best, but Malone numbers are ok enough to go pro...The combine is how these kids make there money anyway..for the type of offense he played in this year he putting up good numbers..

I think he could go, but he's gonna need a strong close to the season to do that. He has a chance to be first team All-SEC if he can - there's a bunch of guys jumbled really close together for that second spot behind Fred Ross. More importantly, I think he'll have to play well in the SECCG if we make it there. He'll need a breakout game against a really good team for his stock to go up, he kinda disappears in those big games sometimes. He has a chance though with a strong close to the season.

Just curious what you guys think or if there has been any talk about it.

Malone is on pace for 850-900+ yards (depending on how many more games we play) and 10+ TD's. Andre Ware was highly complementary (I know, I know) of Malone and thinks he is a great route runner. I think he's a hell of a player but may not benefit from staying next year with an unproven QB.

So does he go or stay?

He should probably stay. QD or Guarantano both seem to be better passers than Dobbs and Kamara is likely gone so We'll need to be more effective throwing the ball next year. He could have a chance to put up better numbers next year and really help his draft stock. This all assumes that our QB play is better from a passing standpoint.

2 things....

1. He's 6'3, not 6'2

2. Doubt he runs 4.37. 4.47, yeah, but 4.37 is pushing it IMO.

Have you measured him?
Have you timed him?

I've done neither, but I know height is often exaggerated.

Marquez North and CP were supposed to be 6'4" 220. Really both around 6'2" 215.

And I'd bet Malone is on par with Evan Berry in straight line speed.

Next season he'll have a much better, more consistent QB throwing the ball so Malones numbers should go up quite a bit.

I think if he returns for next season he'll get drafted much higher and earn a few Million more $$$ on his 1st NFL contract.

Many people said Hunter should leave early too but that hasn't worked out too well for him.

For most in the NFL it's their 1st contract that pays them the most $$$ unless they turn into a real stud.

Malone can still improve a great deal with another year at Tennessee.

VFL...GBO!!!

Given that all three guys that could've gone last year and came back spent some portion of this season injured, I would be very surprised if anyone that could get drafted stays.

I think Malone has greatly improved this year, and I think he still hasn't reached his full potential yet. So I personally would love to see him back next year and think it'd be good for him, it'd especially be interesting to see him with a new QB (one who will presumably be a better passer).

That being said, I think he can be productive in the NFL and I think he flirts with the draft a bit this year. Depending on his draft grade and some of the stuff that happens with this team here in the last part of the season, he might give it a go, and it ultimately wouldn't surprise me if he did. However, I think he stays.

We shall see!

We're both speculating on his speed. But I'll go with his height being 6'3, like every recruiting service and the football program has said he is until further notice. For all either of us knows, he's actually 6'4".

Wes Rucker

#Vols’ Jr WR Josh Malone on whether he’s thinking about entering NFL Draft: “I’ll look at some things and make some decisions later."

He's definitely thinking about it.
