Does Malone leave for the NFL?

No, not ready yet, won't be drafted until later rounds if so at all IMO. Needs a strong, solid senior season to improve his stock IMO.

That being said, he's having both a very good season and career to this point, despite playing in an historically bad Tennessee pass offense for most if not all of his career.

If he stays on his current pace and he plays in 4 more games this year, he'll finish with 49 catches for 866 yards and 11 tds in 2016. Not bad considering our less than average pass offense and his wildly inaccurate quarterback.

Also, if he stays his senior and has an identical season next year as this year, he finishes his career at Tennessee with 152 catches, 2,372 yards and 25 td catches.

By my count that makes him 4th all-time in catches, 3rd all-time in receiving yards and tied for #1 in touchdown receptions. Not bad for a kid who's gotten so much criticism and disrespect from so many fans over the last 3 years.

Hmm.

Actually he probably should go.

I didn't expect him to put up the numbers he has. But he needs NFL coaching now.

I think when he runs 4.37 or so at the combine at 6'2", scouts will hype him.

2 things....

1. He's 6'3, not 6'2

2. Doubt he runs 4.37. 4.47, yeah, but 4.37 is pushing it IMO.

Uhhh. Hate to burst your bubble but he is the best WR on the team. Love Jennings (favorite current vol) to death but Malone is having the better overall year.

Agree with you 100%. Jennings doesn't have nowhere near the speed of Malone. He might go get the ball in traffic better but he's not the best overall WR for us. Malone has stepped up for us this season for sure.

NO!!!! but Hell NO!!! He is not even our primary receiver thus he is not even the best receiver on our team.

Malone plays but he is not NFL ready. Not this year and probably not next year either.

Not our primary receiver? What team are you watching?

He has 8 more catches, 250+ more yards and 3 more touchdown catches than our second leading receiver Jennings.

If Malone isn't our "primary receiver", who do you think is?

He's our primary, best and most productive receiver, period.

If North could run 4.48 at the combine, I wouldn't put sub-4.4 past Malone.

He's always looked much faster than North on the field.

I think Malone tests well. He'll run 4.44 or better.

So give us your prediction .... what round does Josh go in? 1st or 2nd? Since North was going no later than the 4th, and is slower and much, much less productive, surely Malone goes way ahead of North did, right?

Don't think the NFL is keen on signing WRs who wear panties about 80% of the time.....you can be a DIVA as a WR but you have to have the toughness to compete with NFL DBs.....Malone hasn't proven he can compete with aTm's DBs.....:salute:

Wow.....panties? I bet Malone could beat you down and leave you in a puddle of your own blood and piss...in about :15

Wth? He's had one bad game out of 10, is on pace for 50 catches, about 850 yards and 11 tds while playing with a wildly inaccurate qb in an ish passing game. He's our best, most productive WR, hands down who certainly doesn't deserve the ish you're giving him IMO.

Just curious what you guys think or if there has been any talk about it.

Malone is on pace for 850-900+ yards (depending on how many more games we play) and 10+ TD's. Andre Ware was highly complementary (I know, I know) of Malone and thinks he is a great route runner. I think he's a hell of a player but may not benefit from staying next year with an unproven QB.

So does he go or stay?
NO

I think return ...

#1 Next season, we will have a better passing game and his numbers go up
#2 He has steadily improved since a true FR. One more season and a lot of productive reps might get him up the charts 3 or 4 rounds.

... I don't know the class of WR or anything. Just going off watching Josh. He improves again at the same rate and he might be in the elite group nationally.

I think he stays to prove this year wasn't a fluke.

A fluke? He has 35 catches so far. Last year he had 31, the year before 23....it's not a fluke. He's gotten better, more consistent and more productive each year. I think he stays too, but only to improve what is already a rising draft stock.

Because one guy runs one speed means another guy can run another speed? As usual, your rationale makes zero sense.

Why??? He has not had a great year, maybe a good year but his consistency sucks right now. PS Do love his game though.

His "consistency sucks right now"?? How do you figure? Despite playing with a wildly inaccurate qb in an ish passing game/system.....

- he has caught at least 2 passes in every game this year

- he has at least 4 catches in his last 4 games and in 6 of our last 8 games.

- he's caught a td pass in 6 of 10 games this year

-he's on pace to be top 5 all-time at Tennessee in catches, top 3 in receiving yards and to tie Joey Kent for the most receiving touchdowns in program history if he replicates the season he's having this year again next year.

Malone doesn't drop a lot of balls and for the last two years he's either led the team in catches or receiving yards (or both) for a majority of games. The kid gets a lot of unwarranted criticism IMO.
