Does Dooley now gain respect?

just fyi, and analyze how you wish:

we had drives of 11, 12 and 14 plays that resulted in 7 points.
we had drives of 1, 1 and 2 plays that resulted in 21 points.

The quick strike ability is great to have.

To compete and beat the best teams your gonna have to put together longer play drives tho, and cash in at the end. Most of the better Ds are not gonna give up 21 points in 4 plays.

our strength is the vertical game. If we try to become a grind it out team, it won't bode well for us

We were up by 8 points and just turned it over going into the half. This game wasn't even over at the half.

The team responded extremely well in the second half.

We grabbed control in the second half when we went up 29-14.

This.

I just want consistency from the run game. Bray has the best arm talent in the country, so why waste it?

Sure its our strength.

Your stat proved we can grind out 10+ play drives. They just need to figure out how to make that pay off in the end.

If we can't find ways to score outside of 1 and 2 play drives we will have some issues when we get into conference play.

The bottom line answer is "no". Not yet. Dooley gains respect when he puts a season together. This was a better win than Cincy last year but not enough.... yet.

After the 1st quarter the Vols were in total control of the game and the only reason they didn't run them out of the dome was the self inflicted wounds.if Bray scores going into the half and Hunter catches the ones he dropped the Vols put another 17-21 on the board and NCSU gets really embarrassed.

No question whatsoever. UT actually didn't play that well at times. They blew some coverages on D. Hunter dropped some passes. Neal tried to bounce too many outside when lanes were available up field.

All of those are correctable. This team has ALOT more potential.

Thats the exciting part. You never want to walk away thinking that is the best you got being the first game.

We left a lot on the table.

I have been a big time Dooley basher in the past, but I now like the guy. I have always wanted him to have success, but I am a big time supporter of his. He made some excellent hires this offseason and he is finally reaping the rewards of having his recruits playing as juniors.

Now if we could just get you to like Palardy. :)

Yes, he has already gained some respect.

And after he smacks the wee wittle weptiles around to the tune of 45-10, he wsill gain even more. Muschump can't coach a lick....it is funny!

Sept 15 is going to be fun fun fun boyz!!!!!!!!

It really does not matter what some think about Him. They have no influence on anything that happens to Dooley good or bad.

As good of a win as the NCST win was, am I the only one who doesn't class it as a dominant victory? Yes we forced turnovers, but they played very well in the second half defensively....

Just an FYI for those that say that win meant little and only Florida, bama, etc matters.
Barnhart and analysts explained the ease of coaching and correcting mistakes after a locker room celebration and win, compared to a devastating loss with some players, family members, media and fans freaking out over a loss. Remember, these kids know the vibe when they walk around campus too.

No. He will get the respect when we're back. It's one game in the direction of greatness we all expect. If were in Atlanta again this year, yea bow to the orange pants.

its a very good start !!
but we have a long way to go.

^This, if Dooley beats FL, his "hot seat" will cool off significantly, if he gets 10 wins this year, his seat will be this BABY!!

I highly doubt that they will give him a block of ice to sit on. It would melt and make a giant mess.

Probably just a regular ergonomic office chair with a power T on it.

We are not BACK yet, but regardless of what anyone says, Friday August 31st, 2012 was the beginning of our climb back to the top. We hit rock bottom with the Ky loss and now we are on our way back. We didnt do what Ok St did to Savannah St, but we had that game in our control midway through the first quarter. After that point, we started doing a little experimenting with subs, etc. When we decided to move the ball, we did. Neal was trying to bounce outside instead of following the blocks, JH was rusty and dropped a few, the D forgot to look at the sideline for the play a few times. etc. Most of these were first game jitters. As far as the OP, Dooley had my respect the day he took a job that absolutely no one else would think of accepting. He is on his way to gaining the respect of the media and the rest of the SEC. I can't guarantee a Florida win, but I do think we get at least 8 or 9 wins this year which should give CDD some more time to keep up the rebuilding job that, IMHO, he is doing an excellent job with considering the circumstances and the fact that he is trying to do it the right way by fixing a lot of problems that had been building for years. Whenever I think about the Kentucky loss and get sad, I just think about Heather Harrington's eyebrows and I feel a lot better about life.
