Does Butch jump ship after this season if goes to SEC-CG?

We don't have an AD!!!

Of course we have an AD. Even if we didn't have an AD (which we do), we would have an AD, because someone on staff (probably DeerPark) would serve as interim AD until the new AD arrived. :)

This administration already is setting this up for a disaster. Why has a replacement AD not been named. See Florida as to how you do that decisively and effectively.

So, if Butch jumps ship, we have a lame duck AD and no replacement to go out and make a solid hire. How do you think that will work out?

Honestly, I think in that scenario, you just name Shoop the interim for next year and see how he does. Not the preferred course, but I don't see a better alternative.

If he would jump ship, which I don't he will, I like your scenario listed above.

Dude, even your heavy breathing is breathing too heavily.

Its a feel good pitch to the fans, which is one of his strengths. He wouldn't be the first to pay lip service until more $ popped up (not that i think that will ever come up for him). It is what it is. I wouldn't fault him for it. Its bidness in the end.

More cynicism. I understand your viewpoint. I just don't share it. :)

From what I can tell the next AD has been privately known for a while now. Im not sure its really a 9-1-1 situation.

My guess is some school will have an interest in Butch and UT will give him a raise. Butch isn't leaving, he's got it made here.

There's no way Jones deserves a raise after the USCe game and the on-going pattern of higher than normal attrition and injuries.

If someone makes an offer.... UT should let him take it. He hasn't earned what he's making yet.... much less more.

where would he go?

this season told you nothing really good or bad about Butch in any significant way in either direction.

no one is offering him a job off this performance and no one is firing him.
I think your second sentence is something most people on here dont get... nothing good or bad...

This has honestly been a season that for coaches was a nightmare. All they could do is hold on for dear life. The players have done an admirable job given the number of 3rd and 4th string guys that have had to play

They're not going to heed your advice.

You obviously haven't been paying attention to the coaching circus over the past eight years -- in football and basketball.

The UTAD should have their own representative who has connections with these agents. That person would know who is shopping around and available. Can't be caught in a surprise.

This stuff has been going on for a long time. Fulmer's agent had Hamilton running in circles by telling him Fulmer had a stack of offers from NFL teams and would bolt at a moment's notice.

Butch has a losing SEC record in 4 years and that's with Vandy, KY, USC and Mizzou on the schedule every year. He's currently 4 games under .500. The App St and Ohio games, the slow/lackluster first halves, the Columbia disaster..

He'd better cling to his current job like black death imo.

Thats why the Athletic Dept needs their own agent. When your coach threatens to leave, then you pull up your own stack of resumes.

I work in academia for God's sake and we keep a list of qualified people who have contacted us recently asking for jobs...., just in case.
