I say yes if decent offer. Here's why:
1) 2017 will likely be a step back. Other than a rs freshman QB and Jennings, no superstars.(so far none in current recruiting class)
2) SEC too competitive. Would be a better fit in ACC with only two really powerful teams.
3) No AD at UT.
4) Expectations too high and not appreciated at UT if you believe the rumors.
5) Burning red shirts like Calloway's doesn't look like someone planning for 4 more years.

where would he go?

this season told you nothing really good or bad about Butch in any significant way in either direction.

no one is offering him a job off this performance and no one is firing him.

Where would he go that will pay him that kind of $$ and not have high expectations? I think the problem is Butch has never been at a big time program, either as an HC or an assistant (and certainly not as a player), and he doesn't understand the fan-base of a passionate program.

I thought the "no AD" factor was pretty funny also. You do know we HAVE ONE and are in the process of HIRING his successor?

Of course he'll leave and go to a place like Purdue for 25% of his current salary and get his brains beat out by the rest of the Big 10. Makes perfect sense.

Just remember that I was NOT one of those who laughed at you for this post.

I want you to remember that, because if what you are saying does happen then I am going to expect you to share the winning lottery numbers with me.

If he can't handle the heat in Knoxville he could go back to Cincinnati. It would be his safe place. They care as much about tOSU
there as they do the Bearcats. He needs to stay at UT unless his aggressive, confident persona is fake.

No one else will pay him anywhere close.
Period, end of story. His schtick has run its course. Cinnci fans warned us of the cliche king.

Seriously who is going to hire him that wouldn't have a worse roster than the one he has put together for next year.
So if he does leave it will be for less money and he would be going to some middle of the road ACC or B1G team that needs to be rebuilt from the bottom up, and thats the only reason they hired him. He would lose the luster of the SEC and a historic program to sell in recruiting. The fact that he has those now and can still only manage a few 4* and the rest 3* doesn't bode well for success at some middle of the road ACC or B1G school.

He will not leave on his terms, he will be told he is fired and then given the option of how its told to the media, he can say hes stepping down and if he refuses the school will just come out and say they fire him. Of course that won't happen this off season, but when the time comes thats how it will go down. He surely won't be leaving and getting the LSU or Texas jobs lol.

He will probably have make a tough decision between the $10 mil/yr Nike founder is offering Jones to go to Oregon or $7mil/year LSU is offering. He was 100% on board to leaving for USCw until their upset last night will keep Helton around.

Do you really think someone, based on his coaching at UT to this point, is going to pay his buyout to hire him away from us?

Not hating on Butch.

He ain't going anywhere until after next season, if then.

If he does leave after next season, it won't be for a better job or mo money.

Talking bout crazy threads. LSU. Haha.
