How the QB race is going so far. I know they have been practicing SUN, Tues., and today I was just wondering if anyone knew who had the best showing so far.

thats been the biggest problem so far. JC seems to be great in practice and pitiful in game situations

I've heard that practice is closed to the media and public so apparently we'll have to hear it from the coaching staff.

good luck with that. The coaching staff has been very informative so far.
By informative i actually mean secretive and flip-floppy

ive heard from a friend who is at UT and he heard it from some of the players that Crompton will officially get the start but Stephens will get considerable time early in the game. Thats what ive heard around campus, but then again it could just be a rumor

A friend of mine said he heard that 4 footballs were found in Ft. Loudon Lake. Each one had Crompton's finger prints on it. Probably just a rumor.

If the coaches were smart, and that seems to be a bigger IF each week, they would start Stephens and then sub in Crompton. JC's mindset has to be a little fragile and I don't think he will be greeted with the best applause once he is announced with the starting unit at the stadium. Why not let Stephens start, UT hopefully score, and then bring in JC. The crowd will not be as bitter with points on the board once he knocks out a cheerleader on his first out route.

He doesn't get hit in practice is the problem, nor does he have 100,000+ fans watching him, fearing to get hit with a ball that he throws 10-20 rows up in the stands.

I totally agree with you on this. I think if JC hit the field first the boo's will be heard in Oak Ridge.

I don't understand why Crompton should be put back in if Stephens actually scores. Spurrier is the only coach I have ever seen that can rotate quarterbacks successfully. It's never worked when Fulmer's done it before. If Stephens is doing well, leave him in.

Meyer was pretty good at it with Tebow and Leak.

If the coaching staff had half a brain (which is why I am not expecting this to happen) Stephens should get the start.

I assume Crompton will beat Stephen's out at practice, that's what got him the starting job thus far hasn't it.So,Crompton will probably start until his first mistake, which will probably be within the first series.I think Crompton will probably try too hard in the game and really mess up because his jobs on the line.

I really don't like the Sunday night practices. It seems like a waste of time to me.

Did you guys ever think that CFP said Stephen's will play SAT just to get fans there because he afraid that not many will show?

There's no pressure in the NIU game either. I mean for Crompton. It's not like an SEC game. Yeah it counts but just toward a bowl.

I was just going off of Fulmer's stance that both will play. I agree. If Stephens leads a TD scoring drive, then he should get the next couple of series. I can just see them each getting a QTR in the first half and then Fulmer going with the more productive QB in the second half to build for the GA game.

BJ Coleman must feel like the backup kicker this week. I wonder how he is taking all of this. The starting QB is terrible, there is an open competition, he is a QB and not even included.
