I really not sure what all the angst is if you Hire D.Doeren? He has proven he can win at a place like NC.st. If you put it in drag racing terms...he shows up on Sat. and competes with a non modified vehicle and beats and competes with cars who are hopped up with blowers and Nitrous Oxide.

On the Flip side Sumlin/Miles had all the Bells and whistle at A&M/LSU they had everything a coach could desire and still came up with average results.

T.Martin has zero head coaching experience and would be a huge risk and probably a huge epic fail. He needs to at least be a head coach at a G5 before taking over a program like Tenn. Believe me Odom had no Business being our head coach and we are suffering because of it.

Also right now while most of the Tenn. fans are up in arms about your AD and Admin. from the outside looking in...it's the Fans and boosters who are looking like arse's.....the reputation of Tenn right now is rather burnt among the nation and I suspect it's burnt with a lot of quality coaches as well.

I get that your fans didn't want G.Schiano do to the alleged Penn st. stuff but without a doubt he had a good reputation in the football fraternity as a hard nosed good coach who did a good job at a hard place to win Rutgers. And by attacking him and turning on him it will without a doubt make a lot of coaches take pause in coming...not because of your Ad or Admin. but because of the fan base.

Dude consistently loses games to Boston College or teams like ECU at least once per season. No way he should have been reached out to until 6-7 other coaches turned us down.


Him having an offer in hand before the chips start falling with FSU is a travesty.

He literally has proven the exact opposite at NCState. He has a 33-30 record. He's barely over .500.

Not a Ole Miss fan... a Mizzou fan....and not chastising Tenn fan's at all. You guys can do what ever you want and dislike and hate on whatever coach is put forth by your search committee etc.

In fact the current uproar by your fans is beneficial to Mizzou as it keeps good coaches away from Vol land, and the fact that Tenn. fans want Old retread coaches Like Miles and Sumlin who had everything they could wish for as head coaches facility wise and they get more talent in a year in recruiting than a program Like Mizzou can get in a decade but they still end up with average results is also a good thing for us if they come. I hope you guys get Miles/Sumlin as they will be exactly what they was at LSU/A&M below average coaches with a roster full of NFL talent.

I damn well don't want you to get the Purdue coach or Doeren because they take limited talent with limited resources and compete. Just think what they would do with a roster and facilities like Tenn has!!

Being above .500 at a ACC school who doesn't value the football program and doesn't a football rich history is a pretty big accomplishment.

Look at NC st. last 3 football coaches...records

26-30
25-31
22-26

Not a easy place to be .500 at and not a easy place to win.

So it's clear Doeren can win under undesirable circumstances.

The previous 3 guys couldn't.

There were many reasons why Schiano was a horrible fit.

1) Fanbase was thinking the AD and Boosters had given green light for big money to get a big fish. Without any notice or floating the name the report that Schiano, a guy nobody was looking to hire this year, was going to be the guy.

2) The well publicized link to the Sandusky scandal, whether deserved or not, coupled with our title 9 issues is just not a great look. Optics were bad and at best the AD was a little tone deaf in that respect.

3) Butch did not treat players very well, Schiano has some issues reportedly with this as well. Their styles in respect to players are reportedly similar. Butch rubbed a lot of players the wrong way. We need a guy players rally around. Maybe Schiano could be that guy I don't know.

4) Record in a bad conference wasn't great. Comparable to Butch in a really bad east. Failed at Tampa, had players who absolutely despised him.

5) Landed coaching high school until given a shot to rehab career with Ohio State.

In short the timing was wrong, the optics were bad and the fans were expecting much more. The fact that they skipped much more appealing candidates that were interested and attempted to sign a less than stellar candidate in secret is just confounding.

This was a failure by the AD in handling everything from the firing of Butch to the execution of the coaching search. It was mishandled at every turn and looked like amateur hour. It is why the fanbase does not want him to make any hire, we know there are better, interested candidates available they are choosing to ignore them.

1. We have no search committee, this is the work of 2 egotistical narcissists.

2. Who gives a 💩 about Mizzou...? I get your concern about Tenn because you will have to compete with us at the bottom for the next decade.

3. I and the majority of the tenn fan base would choose Miles and Sumlin over Brohm. The SEC is an entirely different animal than
the Big 10.

I get it you wanted Gruden and he was never coming and after the crap fest you all through after the Schiano thing I doubt he would ever come.

Jeez Gundy turned down the bank vault to Tenn. and some of the big Time boosters want him gone for what they feel is under performance.

As I said I hope you guys get a T. Martin or a Return of Kiffin that can only help programs like ours who don't have the deep pockets, recruiting base and Blue Blood history like Tenn does.

Sorry, "The Grove" part threw me off. Apologies. Congratulations on your season.

As for Tee, if he wants it I want it for him, but Tee knows the deal here. I'll leave it at that.

That said, there are a boatload of candidates more qualified than the ones we've been served up. I won't speak for my Vol brothers and sisters, my opinion, mine only is this...

This program makes $130 million dollars a year and it's run like a Dollar General. We sat through Dooley who was a coach with a losing record, and Jones who had a middling record and now they want to force feed us another one and in the dark of night to boot.

I have had enough.

What you don't see is that he is doing more with less and doing better than the other guys who had the same stuff.

Why would you want a Sumlin or Miles who have proven they are below average coaches with a NFL roster and facilities that God is envious of? They do less with more!!

Or why would you want a T.Martin who has proven nothing as a head coach and is a complete unknown.

And Kiffin is a complete loose cannon with a lot of issues.

Tenn. fans want a splash name off season feel good hire...which is good for the SEC east as a whole I hope you get it.

Ok. Doeren has a barely above .500 record due to going 3-9 his FIRST year with very limited talent. He's gone 30-19 since for a school known more for it's basketball than football.....had eventual national champion Clemson on the ropes and lost due to a lousy kicker. Went toe to toe with them this year too. Took a MAC team like NIU to the Orange Bowl..which was unheard of... and won consecutive conference titles.

My issue would be can he recruit? If he checks that box then this is actually not a bad hire at all.

With as majorly screwed up as this administration is....we may be lucky if this guy says yes.

There's warts with EVERY coach out there..and people can cherry pick certain stats or particular games etc etc and make even a strong case why they are a bad hire. We can do it with Gundy...Gruden...Brohm...certainly Sumlin...and Mullen etc etc.

Yes we are screwed up at the top BIG TIME...but I wouldn't be so quick to denounce Doeren as some loser.
