Just watched one of the strangest documentaries ever ....

The Speedway Murders on Hulu.

The crimes were horrible and bizarre and have never been solved. Because they occurred on the same weekend as the Jonestown Mass Suicides (November 17-19, 1978) they didn't receive much publicity.

4 teenagers, 2 boys and 2 girls who were working the night shift at a Burger Chef (fast food restaurant that was bought out by Hardee's in 1982) in Speedway, Indiana were kidnapped from within the restaurant, beaten, murdered and dumped in nearby woods on that Friday night. Their bodies were discovered on Sunday. The police botched the investigation and no leads were ever formed. There were no apparent motives. Nothing was stolen from the restaurant. None of the victims were sexually assaulted and the 2 boys both had their wallets with money inside of them.

The documentary does reenactments with actors playing the teenagers to offer theories as to what may have happened to them .... with the actors also shown trying to solve their own murders as ghosts.

If that sounds like it's goofy and in bad taste? Yeah ... pretty much.

Yikes. That sounds terrible, but interesting. Never heard of it but I like these kinds of documentaries, without the ghost bit of course. Post more like these when you find them..

I was at work and logged into my hulu account because we all wanted to watch something and I took some crap for having all of my recommendations being horror movies and murder docs. ha

Just watched the Endurance documentary from National Geographic on Disney+. It was a great documentary that combined searching for the wreck, real photos and "moving pictures" and realistic reenactments.

Definitely recommend to anyone who knows the story already or not.
Forgot to mention there is a book "Endurance" by Alfred Lansing that is a must read by everyone. One of the greatest true stories ever told that most have never heard of.

It's not like I love people being killed, I gravitate toward the psychology behind it. Like Robert Hansen for instance. There are people out there who really do these things.
I get it. The Chris Watts docu was one of the most gut wrenching things I have ever seen. It's wild what humans are actually capable of with a silly motive.

Just watched the first episode of "Scamanda" on ABC. It's on Hulu if you missed it.

It's about a young woman named Amanda Riley, who faked having cancer for years in order to raise money to support her jet-setting lifestyle. My favorite line from the episode:

"Having cancer has brought me closer to Jesus." - Amanda Riley (cancer faker)

She is a next level loon.

Just finished the American Murder: Gabbie Petito on Netflix. Pretty crazy case. It's crazy just days before her murder, the police got a 911 call for domestic abuse saying they seen a man slap his girlfriend in the face. When the police pull them over she has clearly been hit in the face, is in clear distress, and they decide she was the aggressor and set him up in a free DV hotel.

I haven't seen that one, but I watched the doc on Hulu about her. That is a depressing story. She was very pretty and seemed really sweet and kind. Had her whole life in front of her .... but got mixed up with a loser. Very sad.

When I was following this story, it was the kind of **** that can keep a girl-Dad up at night. Anybody's daughter could end up with somebody like that, it felt. I have to choose my words carefully so that I'm being sensitive, but I felt a little better about it after watching the documentary. It wasn't just something that came out of nowhere because she tried to break up with him. Not only did he show signs of toxic behavior throughout, but she was toxic too, and covered for him. Obviously, she didn't deserve what happened to her, but it's a little easier to swallow with the thought that if I can teach/show my daughter how to have a healthy relationship, she will avoid this downfall. Easier said than done, but at least I don't feel helpless about it.

Pretty sure that's what happened. The last texts she sent her mom were her saying she would be more successful as a solo, and they already agreed she could have the van. I think he could sense that she wanted to leave him so he killed her.

What I'm doing a bad of saying is that she wasn't in a good relationship that suddenly went sour. They were both manipulative and toxic and violent. I remember at one point in the documentary they were talking about how he probably didn't like her vlogging because the camera was going to catch him acting crazy, but all we had was footage of her being really bitchy to him. I think they both brought a negative, toxic energy to the relationship and some people confuse that for real love and thrive off it.
