He is in terms of talent but the NFL is a copycat league. No one is gonna take a guy in the 1st round that some have as a day 3 pick.
I said a few weeks ago that Dobbs would jump up draft boards once he performs at the senior bowl and the combine.
I still think 2nd round is a possibility. 4th round is the latest he will go.
He was famously ranked in the 4th round by Kiper.
Kiper rated Purdue QB Jeff George as the 84th-best player in the 1990 draft; George was chosen No. 1 overall by Indianapolis; he went 46-78 as a starter plus a 1-2 playoff record, in 12 seasons with five NFL teams. As on-screen graphics were being prepared for 1990 draft show, someone at ESPN asked Kiper why George wasn't on the list of top prospects. "He said, Well, I can't put up a Top 40 list and not have the No. 1 guy.' I said, Well, put him 40th. If you have to put him somewhere, put him 40th,' " Kiper remembers.
Anybody catch his response when asked about Hurd up and leaving?
Way more of a distraction to our team than some would like to let on. And when he mentions distractions in the media he is talking about everything from journalists to fans on a message board.
So you spoke to Josh and clarified what he meant by "media"? Stop pushing the narrative that what's said on a fan forum that typically has 2,500-3,000 people on it at any given time had ANY effect on what's happening within the program....that's foolish imo.
Josh has dealt and continues to deal with true local, regional and national print media....reporters, analysts and commentators....not Fred from Bucksnort who posts an opinion about Dobbs intermediate pass accuracy.
Josh Dobbs, Tennessee
Moving to something more of a mid-round prospect we have Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs. However, there are a ton of similarities between Dobbs and Kizer. Both guys are big, strong athletic players who are fearless and tough to plan for. Dobbs isnt as good on the deep throws as Kizer, but has excellent velocity on his throws. If you are looking for a guy to come in and run the Steelers offense the way Roethlisberger did, both guys are going to need some time. However you cant coach the physical gifts they have and as with Kizer, Dobbs can make every NFL throw.
