Dobbs looking good.

I think he would fit in really well at Tennessee before Mariota, or even Houston behind Watson. I never thought Pittsburgh was a good fit for him, and always saw his acquisition as a weird thing anyways. Always wondered if Tomlin was doing Jones a solid favor or something. Not that Dobbs didn't deserve to be on a roster, he absolutely does. Just never understood Pittsburgh specifically, as his style seems so different than what they normally look for.

I think....if Dobbs gets cut, it may be the best thing to happen to him, because he WILL get picked up somewhere that'll be a better fit for him. Tennessee, Houston, Carolina, Jacksonville, Miami, Kansas City.....all of those would be great fits for him, IMO.

And Denver

As they say, players know. They know who can play and who can't. Just check out these comments from Dobbs Steelers teammates: Steelers talk Joshua Dobbs as a future opponent

Joshua Dobbs is an NFL quarterback. Mike Tomlin thinks so. Dobbs' Steelers teammates agree. The 2017 fourth-round pick said he still plans on being a starter in the league. He proved plenty to his teammates', his head coach's and his own point Thursday night as he led the Steelers through consecutive scoring drives Thursday night in Pittsburgh's 39-24 preseason-ending win against the Carolina Panthers.

It's left Dobbs happy with his play and his fellow Steelers impressed, but also, when asked, considering the former Tennessee star as a future opponent. They noted his mobility, which he showcased throughout his quarter-plus of play behind a makeshift offensive line on Thursday, and largely stated their preference to keep him as a teammate.

"Man, I hope Dobbs on my team. Because I know you saw what he did tonight. That boy a baller man. He's always been a baller, so man, I hope he's on our team. I don't know what the whole coaching, their situation with everybody [is]," Terrell Edmunds said. "I'm not trying to be a coach, I'm not trying to pick the team, but at the same time you'd be glad to have him on your team than against you." "He balled as we can see. And we all see it."

Nat Berhe simply wanted to continue sharing a locker room with Dobbs. "Well I hope not man," Berhe said of the prospect of playing Dobbs. "I think Dobbs is a hell of a player and, you know, I wouldn't want to go against him." "Oh man, he's unstoppable. You haven't seen him?"

Dobbs teammates know he's gonna be great. They see what I see.

Its early in the game but he sure is looking good so far. He hit Justin Hunter 3 times for 72 yards in the first quarter.

I was hoping that Dobbs would have passed Landry Jones on the roster. Then cut/trade Jones who has a higher salary than Dobbs
However Dobbs did not pass Jones, so the Steelers will likely keep Ben, Jones & Rudolph and cut Dobbs
Hope he does not end up in purgatory on Cleveland

The problem with Landry isn't whether skill-wise Dobbs has passed him on the roster. I think it's fair to say Dobbs has done enough to make a case to be the Steelers #2. The problem with Jones is his salary. Before the 2017 draft Pittsburgh made, IMO, the dumb decision to sign Landry to a 2-year, $4-million contract. I'm pretty sure it's guaranteed money too so if Pitt wanted to keep Dobbs/Rudolph and only have 3 QB's then they would need to eat $2 million in salary. I doubt they do that although I am hopeful.

If Dobbs can somehow stick with Pittsburgh throughout these next 48-hours then it's pretty clear Landry is gone and will not be re-signed after this season. But the likelihood of him surviving the next 48-hours is pretty low.

Dobbs is not getting cut. Maybe traded. But not cut.

Pitt will not keep 4 q.b.s. If I am a team exec., I wait for him to get cut, then sign him immediately
Why make a trade for him when you can just wait and pick him up on waivers

Because there is an order for waivers. If a team ahead of you wants to claim him on waivers then you are out of luck. Otherwise, what would the point of a trade even be if anyone could claim someone off waivers at any point?

I am going to give an example of how bad Jones actually is
One season, Ben was out for the last two games of the season with an injury. So Jones is now the starter. We go to San Diego and we all know that S D has not been good in decades.
So Pitt is losing a close game and it is mid forth quarter. So Tonkin puts in Mike Vick. Guess what? Yep we won the game
Jones could not get the job done. Only game I recall Jones winning was against. Cincinnati

As I said in a previous post, my family are Steelers fans so I tend to root for them as well so I know your pain. To be fair, Jones has not been miserable but I have little faith Pittsburgh could win a championship if Ben got seriously injured and Landry was to lead us. I'm not saying Dobbs or Rudolph could do it. But right now the unknown is more appealing than the known. Case in point, Big Ben was rested in the final week of last season because the division was locked up. Pittsburgh plays the 0-15 Browns, Landry starts, and they squeak out a victory on a mediocre performance. If Landry played a good team it would have been a loss.

I would cut Jones - eat the loss, since they wont be signing Bell to the money he wants

104.5 the zone in Nashville said Green Bay was interested in Dobbs and was part of the reason they were okay with trading Hundley.
Gonna be a very interesting week in the big leagues. Steelers trying to make the best of a bad situation. At least they gave Dobb's a chance to shine but they are trying to get a draft pick in return and many don't want to give it. Worst that can happen to Dobb's is ending up on Steeler's practice squad. I think he's better than that and could be a reliable back-up on a lot of teams.

They might look at trading Landry if they get the right offer but more than likely they'll trade Dobbs for a team looking sure up a number 2. I think they'll keep Mason.

It would be a tough sell to trade Landry with that bloated contract. And his value couldn't be more than a 6th or 7th round pick. They definitely will keep Mason. Even if they believed Dobbs was the better #3 option there is no way they would be willing to admit they made a mistake and cut Rudolph.

This was deliberate on the part of the steelers but I think it's backfired. They want to trade Dobb's for the most they can get but steeler fans and now some players feel the proper call would be to send L.Jones packing but as Mookie above stated it's Jones' contract that's keeping him there. I'm full blown Ravens/Browns fan and steelers have trapped themselves....LOL! Dobbs won't be on waivers long. Belichek for one likes the guy and I'm sure there are others.

If there were any teams out there willing to dedicate more than a 6th rounder on Dobbs the trade would have already happened. It's pretty clear that no one sees Dobbs as a critical acquisition, so I imagine that the teams that are interested would be willing to wait for waivers and would be okay missing out if an earlier team in the order gets him.

Easy big fella, tap the brakes. We don’t know that yet.

I could easily seeing the Steelers cutting Jones.

Exactly how it will play out and all the GM's in the league know it and that's why they aren't giving up the draft pick. Steelers look dumb in the way. they are going about this. The reality, IMO is too eat the $2ml, that's due Jones and keep Dobbs. Rudolph hasn't shown me jacksh!t this year and Dobbs likely would want to get out of there.
