Dobbs is not the answer

OK, let's just say for arguments sake Dobbs isn't the answer. I'm not saying he is or isn't. Who would you start in the bowl game? What about next year? Unless you have a better alternative, your point is moot.

Here is the only stat that matters: with Dobbs at QB we won 3 out of 4 games in November. I'm sorry bro, you are looking for reasons to dislike him.

I don't dislike the kid. I just don't think he has the tools to be a good QB. Primarily, the ability to pass.

Dobbs had planned on redshirting abut answered the call for us. He won 2 SEC road games for us. He is still young, but is the best QB we have had for some time. He had 4 of his top 6 receivers injured and not playing yesterday and Hurd was out for 80% of the game. He put the game away with his running ability, gaining 91 yards and scoring 2 TDS. Basically, if he is not in the game, we lose. Give him the first team snaps over the off-season, an influx of new playmakers, and time for the rest of the offense to heal and get stronger, and he will be fine. Peterman will back him up next year, but it would not surprise me to see Jennings and/or Dormady to play.

It matters if they don't run the correct routes and can't get any separation. Incompletions are not always on the QB just like they're not always on the WR. Vic Wharton, who has played virtually no meaningful offensive snaps this year was our 3rd starting WR last night for crying out loud. I know you don't like Dobbs' game/abilities, but for the love of Pete, I think he's earned some benefit of the doubt after how he's performed this year given the circumstances.
When have I ever stated that I don't like Dobbs game abilities? No doubt he is a dynamic player, but he has accuracy issues. Its no secret. Your point is well made about incompletions not always being on the QB or the receivers. But its not route running, timing etc. Its simply that he has problems with his accuracy.

You can choose to look over them and give him the benefit of the doubt if you want. Don't take it so personally and I'm not bashing Dobbs. He had problems with it last year during the season, through the spring and it continued in preseason. The biggest reason they wanted to red shirt him. CBJ has stated all along that his consistency in the passing game, especially with accuracy has been a problem.

I was super negative on the coaching staff last night after the game for the O cooridator's lack of adjustments, but we WERE basically playing Vandy with our second string.... was not aware Malone had something going on as well-- Pearson, Pig, and Lane were the only ones who caught a pass... wow. I think when we have at least Croom, Malone, Pearson, and Pig firing on all cylinders in the bowl, we will see Dobbs connecting a little more on those passes... we add North and we could do some damage... that and at least one slant per game would be great too!

LOL, ..... When he loses on the merits of the argument in contention, he will misdefine your argument to something you never argued (building a straw man) then attack that straw man - all while avoiding your actual argument. You properly recognized his BS tactics and handled it well.

Re: "Pearson, Pig, and Lane were the only ones who caught a pass... wow."

And I think AL also actually had only 3 guys to catch a pass against us:

Amari Cooper 9 224 2 80
DeAndrew White 4 59 0 18
T.J. Yeldon 1 3 0 3
Totals... 14 286 2 80

There are other basics we need to improve.

The coaches have all said he has accuracy issues, but don't tell that to the jock sniffers and sensationalists around here. They will call you a nega vol and that you hate Dobbs.

Bama didn't have game film. That one is simple.

South Carolina has a horrible defense. KY is KY.

Missouri dared us to throw all game and we couldn't. Vandy did the same thing. When a defensive coordinator keys on a deficiency, they will exploit the heck out of it.

Trust me, I truly hope Dobbs proves me wrong. Id love nothing more than him to blow it up next year. But just like the lack of ability on the Oline, I see a lack of ability at QB too.

Hey Einstein! Who were our receivers last night?

His throws have been horrible. He doesn't process the defense fast enough either.

Watch for 1 of the early enrolling freshman, to make a big push for PT next year.

Early in Tee Martin's career he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and he had a NFL caliber line and Jamal Lewis to hand off to.

There is no doubt he has accuracy issues ( which can be improved) but a bad O Line does not help.

He also makes really good passes at times. I don't know any QB who is 100% accurate.

They could have been Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, and Michael Irvin. If you can't throw the ball in their zip code, it doesn't matter.

Thank you for calling me Einstein and recognizing my genius though.

Try shooting a gun at a target and hitting it with no less than 3 very fast DLs within inches of physically smashing you. Bet you don't hit your target. Same thing

True, but there are no defensive linemen crashing in during practice. Dobbs accuracy problems in practice are well known. Dobbs lost the #2 position to Peterman for exactly that reason - accuracy in preseason drills.

Another realist who can see what is actually happening!

Go Vols!
