Most allied relationships are formed because one or both are lacking something or vulnerable somewhere. Geography, military, economy, import/export, culture, government … there are so many variables that set countries apart I don’t know how anyone could assume anything would be measurably equitable in an allied partnership.

I wasn't entirely serious with that post to be fair.

I will say this, though, I have idolized the Greco-Roman world most my life and I personally think people from that era and Medieval era were smarter than us in many ways. Both Civilizations were known for their aggressive postures in foreign policy.

I would actually like a Star Trek world myself. Live on Earth if you desire, but also the opportunity and alternative of living in another galaxy

Reforming the USSR is definitely the end goal for Putin. Moldova and the Baltics are definitely what he wants next, and I watched a video not too long ago detailing how Russia is integrating Belarus into the country.

Beyond that, I’ve known a few Russians (anti-Putin) who have told me that they remember the Russian media pushing a narrative that Kazakhstan “is committing a genocide against Russians in their north”. Just like what they claimed about Ukraine. If they’re right (I had no real way to verify it, but they usually are correct), this would mean Kazakhstan is probably on his radar too.

Pure insanity.

Russia is a vassal state to China. There are 4 countries in Europe that have bigger economies then Russia. Hell Brazil does. lol.

I wish Brazil did... I work a lot with them and you can't source anything there, meanwhile there government is like Trump on steroids trying to ship anything into their country. Heck they have another stinking port strike going on holding everything up.

Nothing wrong with Star Trek world but it would be pretty rough too with the Borg, Dominion, Tholians, Terran Empire, Klingons, etc.

Heck even the Kardasians have their own world there.

There are plenty of galaxies to choose from to avoid those adversaries. And the Klingons have been a solid military ally for almost 40 years.

Bill 54 proposes many changes to Alberta’s election rules. Among them is lowering the threshold for a citizen-led referendum to 10 per cent of people who voted in the last election. It would currently take 20 per cent of eligible voters.
