GA stacks the box and disguises coverage with two high safeties and pattern matching coverage. This means you need a smart qb who can read post snap coverage fast. We haven’t had that since Hooker. We’ll know soon if Joey can read them and make them pay. They are still superior at most positions, particularly on the lines and across their d. We’ll have to get breaks and not make mistakes.
Hooker didn't play well at all against them. Neither did the oline. The receivers got stifled.
That was a terrible offensive performance down there. The next Tennessee qb to play great against them will be the first one in decades...

My hope for this year is that our OL is good enough to give Joey time to click through those reads and give Joey the opportunity to see those changes instead of having to rush a risky throw.

Nico actually had some time last year, and made a few decent throws. Our rebuilt OL this year actually looks a little better on paper, outside of the C and RT changing up. Also, RB pass blocking has to improve because that was the weak point last year against UGA that caused more blown up plays.

I said Hooker was the last qb to make a post snap read. I didn’t say he or our OL did well.

Josh Dobbs played well against Georgia. He beat them back to back in 2015 and 2016, hardly "decades." And you can throw the last few years against Georgia out the window because we were just coming up from rock bottom and they have been the top college football program of this decade. We're in a much better position to compete with them next week than we have been at any point in years. We're going in more battle tested too because we played a better opponent in our opening and both of us play cupcakes this week. I really think this is the year we end the streak

We have to get pressure on him. I wish it was a night game. Neyland needs to be rocking and loud as possible.
If last week was any indication, we will. Five sacks and two turnovers. Although Mike Bobo basically only does screen passes these days, so I don't know how much we'll be able to sack the QB.... But I do know that his ass is gonna be in the dirt a lot

I always know someone has hit a wall with their argument when they are reduced to emojis. So. Congrats.
No argument here, buddy. Georgia is an elite program right now and we aren’t quite there yet. If you want to live in denial that’s your prerogative. I know for a fact you won’t put money on the game.

Does anyone remember that uga beat kentucky by ONE last year?

Or that ole miss absolutely spanked uga?

They're a 9-3 team this year......at best.
We may beat them but they’re not losing 3 games over the whole season, much less just the regular season

They’re better. Much better than last year.

On top of this: Kirby is 100% on a revenge tour. He hates us, really hates Florida, Tech, etc. He grew up in Georgia, played at UGA, and now coaches the team he has supported his whole life.

He hates us for the Dobbnail Boot, and that we beat his ass in 1997 and 98. You know his guys will be gassed up for this game.
You’re right that they aren’t going to lay off against us in Neyland Stadium. Debating on the chances is good, but everyone save the trash talk.

Our best chance is for everyone on social media to keep their mouths shut and show up on Saturday. We aren’t going to talk Kirby’s Bulldogs into submission.

Agree. The definition of ‘coaching’ includes X’s and O’s, developing and motivating players, making the right adjustments and so on. Yes, recruiting is part of the responsibility of a college and you could say Kirby is a great recruiter (although the state/school recruits itself to a certain extent), but the way ‘coaching’ is defined in Websters, does not have anything to do with recruiting. I’m one that doesn’t believe Kirby is the best coach just because he gets the most talent. Same thing with Fulmer. He was a great recruiter but an average game day coach. I honestly believe that UT would have fewer wins that Heupel if he coached our team the last 4 years instead
Agreed. He’s nothing special as a game day coach.

No games ever get thrown out of the window. That's wild. They all count. You won or you lost. It goes on the permanent record. Forever. We need to step up and beat Georgia. Finally.

I would say yes, if we did a cheap shot on the Q.B., but who knows how deep their depth chart is. They're getting Saban-ish having a super deep roster.

Agree, none of our QBs have had a good game against Georgia. Kirby has slowed down Heupel offense as good as anyone. Hope that changes this year, but unlikely

You will laugh but seeing the post about his podcast, I will call out that the last QB to really explode on Georgia from Tennessee might have been 2020 Jarrett Guarantano's first half performance in Athens (granted the second half was ugly).

Do you think this is the year we beat Georgia? A win sets us up to roll into Tuscaloosa undefeated and controlling our own destiny in the SEC championship race. And obviously this is the only other losing streak Heupel hasn’t ended yet so yea a win would be massive for him the team and us fans . Unfortunately i’m just not that confident we can pull it off with the injuries we are already having on the defense. And Kirby just really gets his team motivated for Tennessee it seems maybe cause he never beat us as a player at georgia i dunno. I think much like 2022 we will have to outscore our opponents but we haven’t scored more than 17 points against Georgia under Heupel. A loss isn’t the end of the world we know from last season that going 10-2 in the SEC will get you in the playoff but man it would be nice to beat those leg humpers and shut there arrogant fans up for a change.
A chance is why the game is played. Ask App State about that Michigan game.

We have a chance, but it’s a small one.
