Vols have been competitive against UGA the last 3 seasons until late in the game, that's not a step forwardThere are some who look at it through rose-colored glasses and refuse to consider anything that doesn’t involve sunshine-pumping the Vols as the greatest team on Earth, year in and year out.
Others take a step back and look at it more objectively based on roster talent, coaching, health, and experience.
I choose the latter. Will root for the Orange and White like I do every Saturday, but I do not expect us to win this game. If we can keep it close for 3 quarters I’ll consider it a step forward.
I saw some stats that we've rushed for more yards each year against Georgia and Heupel has never lost a game when we've rushed for more than 175 yards. That's the goal and I think we can do that Saturday. Our running backs look better, our o-line is better and more talented and our QB is a true running threat now. I think Aguilar's legs will be the deciding factor in this game and I think he will rise to the occasion. Not trying to be the wet towel, but even with their new QB, Georgia just outclasses us across the field.
On offense: they have an experienced and healthy OL and good weapons to get the ball to at RB, TE, and WR. Kirby is also the best coach in the country right now. Stockton doesn't have to play his best game to beat us, because he is surrounded by talent.
On defense: its a Kirby Smart led team. They have studs everywhere. They are smart. They prep and know how to beat our pace and space offense, like they have the last 4 years.
TheFilmGuy on Youtube (a Georgia homer, keep in mind) has said it best: teams simply do not beat Kirby by out scheming him. You have to have the jimmies and joes along with the X's and O's. This is why I doubt Heupel will beat him. Until we are within spitting distance talent wise, we will struggle. Their roster is LOADED with talent. Georgia is going to be a contender this year.
It was 60% last week, it's now just over 50% for the Vols![]()

If we bring our a game we will win,I think it sets up well for us. We have the more experienced quarterback and its the other guy's first sec regular season start. We are playing at home and have a chance to show a lotI of unscouted looks for that game. I'm worried about the injuries and depths on defense, but if that side can get a little healthier before the Georgia game we should have a good shot at it.
