On the flip side, Stockton is a Junior and has been in the system for a while. He also has been on the sidelines for some big games.

I doubt Neyland rattles him. Again, he doesn't even need to play his best game to beat us. He just has to get the ball to his playmakers, which Smart and Bobo are more than capable of coaching him to do.
Being on the sidelines for big games without breaking sweat is not comparable to being on the field for big games. Doesn’t matter how long he’s been there this is his first test. I think he is nothing special.

Sadly, no. Roster, staff stability. Plus Georgia is on a different level for strength and conditioning. Something Heupel needs to figure out. They rarely lose players to injury. Durable as heck. Plus, I have to say there is no chance for us to have any chance.
I wonder about our S&C program and all our injuries. We have a tendency to lay on the ground like a bunch of slugs a lot. I've heard more about security measures at Fort Knox than I've heard about our S&C program since Heupel has been here.

We have a chance, but the zone defenses must improve for us to domit. I like the way our offense played Last week and it will get better after another game under their belt. The Oline will be better with Sanders at RT. We will be able to run the ball and our screens to the RBs Nd TEs will keep their defense honest. Would like to see a couple of deep passes to connect. Special teams could be the difference.

Any Saturday it can happen. Am I willing to put money on it? Not a chance. If the game we're in late October, I would feel more confident. But with the new QB, I think we need more than 2 games under our belt to get clicking at a high enough level to win. Honestly, I don't think we even keep it competitive. They've had our number for a few years. They have the superior talent. Their D knows how to shut down CJH's system. I don't see anything magical happening this year to change that. We need 2 more years. The talent level will be near equal. And it should be a home game. It will be Alabama 2022 all over again.

Of course we have a chance. You Voldawgs in here take ANY opportunity to praise the Buttsmehres. I will never understand that.

Is it likely? No. Do we have a 'chance'? Hell yes.

But to roll over and basically ask that trash program to rub your belly is embarrassing IF you're a true Vol fan.

Good grief. Some of y'all in here just puzzle me.

Yes we certainly can at Neyland. Doesn’t mean we will or should, doesn’t mean some of you should overreact if we don’t. If you are lucky enough to have a ticket take upon yourself to be the difference and bring the noise every down.

Do you think this is the year we beat Georgia? A win sets us up to roll into Tuscaloosa undefeated and controlling our own destiny in the SEC championship race. And obviously this is the only other losing streak Heupel hasn’t ended yet so yea a win would be massive for him the team and us fans . Unfortunately i’m just not that confident we can pull it off with the injuries we are already having on the defense. And Kirby just really gets his team motivated for Tennessee it seems maybe cause he never beat us as a player at georgia i dunno. I think much like 2022 we will have to outscore our opponents but we haven’t scored more than 17 points against Georgia under Heupel. A loss isn’t the end of the world we know from last season that going 10-2 in the SEC will get you in the playoff but man it would be nice to beat those leg humpers and shut there arrogant fans up for a change.
This is the first year I will say yes in a minute. We will need to be healthy and play a super clean game. Still low chances probably, but I think way more than A chance.

You have to consider we will be without our top 2 DBs in this game. Chris Low published an article yesterday saying as much.

The corners will be Hood and Redmond (a true freshman) on the outside. And McMurray and Boo in the slot.

And that’s presuming no one gets hurt Saturday.

It’s an extremely tall order against the UGA WRs particularly the kid from USC.

The only path to victory is an incredible pass rush all night, and possessing the ball a long time so our D isn’t gassed late. Is there a path? Sure. Does it happen. It’s not likely.

Nonetheless go Vols.

Neyland can rattle anyone when UT gets going

We're getting them early and seem to added different schemes to the offense plus we're playing at home. If our WR catches the ball and we don't have injuries haunting us then I like our chances

I answered yes.
We've witnessed CJH teams win games they aren't supposed to. UGA is the more talented team, no doubt. Kirby is an excellent coach...best in the SEC hands down. So, I guess it comes down to where does "realistic" start. If that starts at 50% chance or better, we will have to play incredibly well and they will have to play short of their potential.
We also witnessed CJH teams lose a game every year they weren't supposed to lose. Just the truth. Maybe that will change.

Always a shot but we have to be better along the LOS and at WR. Too many big runs allowed, too many dropped passes. It will take everyone playing a great game to win versus them and we’re already thin at some places
Agree, we would have to have a A plus game and Georgia a C game. Georgia is just better, our offense hasn't scored a lot of points against Georgia

OP didn't ask "does UT have a realistic chance of losing". I answered the question asked. There are plenty of posters willing to discuss the negatives that aren't asked.

Not trying to be the wet towel, but even with their new QB, Georgia just outclasses us across the field.

On offense: they have an experienced and healthy OL and good weapons to get the ball to at RB, TE, and WR. Kirby is also the best coach in the country right now. Stockton doesn't have to play his best game to beat us, because he is surrounded by talent.

On defense: its a Kirby Smart led team. They have studs everywhere. They are smart. They prep and know how to beat our pace and space offense, like they have the last 4 years.

TheFilmGuy on Youtube (a Georgia homer, keep in mind) has said it best: teams simply do not beat Kirby by out scheming him. You have to have the jimmies and joes along with the X's and O's. This is why I doubt Heupel will beat him. Until we are within spitting distance talent wise, we will struggle. Their roster is LOADED with talent. Georgia is going to be a contender this year.
I agree 100% with this assessment.

We have a realistic chance of beating Georgia because we have a strong offense and defense, along with Neyland Stadium. Bring it all together and we should win this one.

Depend a lot on how it’s called as well. We need to be prepared to match their intensity at DB. If they damn near mug our WRs we need to be prepared to be physical as well. Physical on the perimeter and hit the QB early, adjust your defense to how the refs are calling things but we need to bully WRs on the outside early on.

If we go into the game healthy we have as good a chance as we’ve had in years. If we’re all banged up, uphill climb.
