DK back to Lakers....

That has got to be awkward. The deal was rescinded for some reason. DK has got to have hard feelings, knowing they gave up on him.
I'm sure it's Awkward and I bet he may have some feelings for sure, but I don't think they gave up on him, they just needed a center. Teams trade players that they want, like, and believe in all the time. Gotta address the best way to better tour team, Luka wanted a center/lob threat.

They absolutely did not “give up on him” unless they were hoping he hit a growth spurt and became a center. No doubt they would love to keep him but they need a center. He has potential but does little to help them now. I am sure they are good with him being back. Getting traded is part of the business for all but a select few. Ask Luka

I never heard of anything like that. The closest thing to it was that the player had a no-trade clause, and the story got leaked to the press. But it usually takes no more than a day for something like that to be cleared up.

My next guess....he failed the physical? Tested positive for PED?

Third guess....refused to report?

Williams failed Lakers physical and they chose to rescind the trade. Dalton back to Lakers. And this will be an awkward thing going forward. Don't know how often this has happened in NBA history, but only thing one can guess is his future in LA is very short-term and his playing time will be much reduced. Worst outcome for DK. Feel badly for him. Hope he can move to a better team and environment in his next stop.

Or he is a mature professional and realizing this is a business and it made sense. He has much higher career accolade potential and long term money making potential at this current franchise and market. Nobody is the right might wants anything to do with the dumpster fire that is Charolette.

I don't think the failed trade will have any effect on DKs playing time. Now the fact that he is behind multiple better players might. LA was not looking to get rid of DK, they needed a center and the team that had one wanted DK as part of the trade. The only other person they could have moved in that spot would be Bronny and Charlotte wanted him for that trade. DK is clearly currently a better player and therefore a better trade piece. Had either of the other bigs on the roster shown more potential this would have never been an issue.

Absolutely. Ask Alex Caruso or Kyle Kuzma of the benefit of playing with the Lakers.

It’s rare, but it happens. Most famously happened in a Lakers-Hornets trade, ironically.

If I’m the Lakers, I’m getting him on the phone with Pau Gasol asap. He has experience in this situation and was nothing less than a consummate professional throughout. Played a few more years in LA after the Paul trade was rescinded.

He probably knows it wasn't about "giving up on him", unless he has paper thin skin
If your boss fires you on Monday and then calls you on Thursday and says just kidding come back.....how are you gonna feel about that?
Regardless of it being a business decision or not. How do you feel in front of your current, then forner, now current again coworkers?

Key wird in your post is "playing"
His minutes were hardly anything and now will be much less.
Sitting the bench during your rookie contract doesn't really set you up for a better one later on.

If DK is smart, he will thank his lucky stars and if he has any feelings of "Laker rejection"...grow up and count the cash.
Short sighted thinking. I guess he could count a little bit of cash now but he should not don't expect to count a lot later.

That is because your next contract will be based on production, and his playing time just hit rock bottom.

Even if he is on the floor with 2 extremely ball heavy players like Luka and Leflop, he isn't going to produce.

So Luka wants a center so they trade you to satisfy him, but that doesn't work out and now you have to play with Luka knowing he doesn't want you there because he wants a center. How would that make you feel. Plus his PT is gonna be next to nothing

He wasn't fired though, and the NBA or any professional sport isn't comparable to regular jobs. Weird take.

What would you define as the Lakers biggest need after the trade of their 5? Bet they figured it out without Luca’s input TOO.

What was their most marketable asset to fill that void? He was not a throw in.

Probably a good bet he yet gets traded for another 5, but maybe a better landing spot for him.

Since Brony hit his first 3, and Daddy is still there, eliminating the competition for minutes is in play also. Some franchise may try to take advantage of the entire situation and get a bargain. Fit is fit.

It's not remotely the same as getting fired. Goodness. He didn't get "cut"

Missed the point...try being discarded and then brought back knowing the organization didn't really want you there but is forced to take you back.
think people would still respect you?
