Not speaking to DJ, but look how many of the playoff teams this year are prior year portal QBs.
Maybe it is best to let a yungin take his lumps somewhere else and harvest the results.
this is what i've been saying. these 5 star qbs aren't working out as freshman/RFr. Find a qb we can win with now

If I had my way, this would be our portal QB addition. The upside of this would be a big deal as he has 2 years of eligibility left. That gives Heupel STABILITY at the most important position on the field in a year that could really springboard him back into calm waters.

McIntyre is the man. He's been in Josh's system and actually looked good in mop up duty

Except he has zero meaningful experience in live action. Which is an excuse that Heupel chose to throw out the window with his decision to not pivot to the future the last 4 weeks of the season.

While I hope it does not happen.... If Mac is the starter and is shaky the first month or two of the 2026 season, there is no one with a brain cell who pin it on "he's still a young QB" line. There was ample opportunity for him to get a LOT of action this season.

I would be thrilled for Gmac to be the starter the next 2 years because Heupel with the same QB for multiple seasons will likely result in success. But in a make or break year, Heupel can hardly afford to just throw out a QB with zero experience. The R/R ratio is heavily tilted towards risk.

He has a strong arm, just never developed consistent patterns or chemistry with receivers. The right fit and he can do really well. UT would be a good place for him to end up.
He is a very inaccurate passer. Can’t throw a long ball so he is not a good fit for Tennessee.

Exactly. Heupel’s system is very run/pass balanced. Lagway would thrive

Ideally let's just get a guy who can be the starter 2-3 years. Look at Marcel Reed. Pretty good Freshman season and now a Heisman/Champ contender.

No, we don't need Fazion to hit the portal.
