Diego Pavia proclaims Vanderbilt will run Tennessee after this season

Just looked at their 2025 schedule. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, 6 is the O/U.

Granted, for Vandy, 6-6 is a good year. Bowl win gets them above .500

But I'm just not buying the Pavia hype. Yes, he's a gamer. Yes, he's tough. But every SEC team they face this year...especially Bama...will be looking to put Pavia in the Vandy MC ICU. I think he's in for a tough year. Old K9 saying: "Talk sh*t, get bit."

Hope he's up to the challenge. If not, then he will be the most recent cautionary tale about what happens when you FA...and FO.

So long as UT beats them, preferably like a rented mule, I couldn't care less about Vandy.

Or Pavia. He might be a legend in Nashville. In Knoxville, he'd be known more for the splinters in his butt than what he did on the field.

NFL clipboard skill set. Maybe the UFL. But NIL will be the most he made playing football.

It is what it is. Starter at Vandy, Scout Team QB at almost every other SEC team.

Down Scope.

Blaine Bishop had the best idea. Play his clip on the loudspeaker as they go out for the coin toss.

Chaos will ensue for 60 minutes. He might not live thru the game

Looks like they averaged around 28K per game in 24. I just don't see them ever getting 60K+ at a game. I get it though. It is his job to try to talk his school up. Although unfortunately bad things generally happen when you piss daddy off.

Build a stadium where the middle section is all local hip restaurants that have outdoor seating inside the stadium. Attach a hotel directly to it. Make it a local attraction tourist want to visit. Turn the field into a light show. Rebrand it the V. Have fireworks shows on the weekend for the restaurant goers to see. Place would bank.

Even my Greeneville is getting this way, overrun with Michigan, Ohio and California. 🙁
Hampton and Butler were recently full of outta staters moving in and remodeling houses. Haven't been up there simce Helene though.

I've got a friend in Harmony and another in Fall Branch saying the same. The Tri is busting at the seams with them and they have started filtering outwards. Greeneville being hidden off by itself on 11e is the only reason it didn't happen before now unfortunately. The riff raff done found NE TN.

Kid put up 3100 total yards and 28 TDs.
Very impressive with his supporting cast.

Vandy gets destroyed in Neyland tho.

😂 it’s a blind squirrel finding a nut. Heupel has been very successful with portal players although not nearly as flashy as one would like. There are some limitations already in place when you’re up against some teams. We went hard after a portal WR just couldn’t get it done for a few reasons; none of which are controllable.

So, if Heupel signs a portal player, its genius, but if a coach switches schools, and his QB mysteriously follows him, its a squirrel finding a nut?

As for your second point, the schools that use the portal well do not 'compete' for players in the portal. The player is in the portal specifically to attend the school they move to. Is it 'tampering'? Sure. But just like in the pre-NIL era, the top coaches work the system to their advantage.

Heupel strikes me as waiting to 'see' who enters the portal of their own accord, then 'competes' for those unclaimed players. That's a great way to sign mediocre talent that another school didn't want or wasn't using.

Heupel has GOT TO BE PROACTIVE and create his own opportunities. I really hope he gets it better than some on this board do.

So, who offered the kid a scholarship?
Heupel did, after the kid entered the portal because Heupel lost his starting QB. Nothing about the Nico/Aguilar saga is strategic on Heupel's part. He made the best of a bad situation because LITERALLY the QB fell into his lap.

Good golly.

Proactive as in tampering? I mean I know everyone is doing it but you can see why we wouldn’t have in the past right? Freshly coming off an NCAA investigation and having sanctions still in place

Gutsy kid, one helluva QB.

I doubt he makes it through the season w/o significant injury, just given his playing style.

He is the type of QB I wish Heupel would recruit and sign through the portal. Somehow Vanderbilt 'found' him. Wonder how that happened?

As I have said, if Heupel is waiting for great players to suddenly appear in the portal, he is on a fool's errand. He has GOT to be more proactive and create portal opportunities....like say.....Vanderbilt did.
He literally had worse numbers than Aguilar had in 2023. So we hear whines about JA who in 2023 with a good OL went 3,757 yards 33 TD’s and 10 INT. Running for his life last year and he threw for 3,000 yards 23/14, best Pavia went was 2,973 26/9. Pavia is a low rent Kyler Murray who can win a few football games but not talented enough to do so with his arm so that’s why he gets beat up so much! Has ton of heart but he’s like 5’10 can barely see over the OL, takes a bunch of sacks but makes a few plays with his feet until end of the year and he is put together with duck tape(dollar tree brand). JA will be just fine here behind hopefully a much better OL than he had in 2024 at Appy and more comparable to 2023 in which Pavia doesn’t come close to matching up with!

Parvia as well as Vandy will not sneak up on teams this year. I’m not saying he will not have sucess, however, as last year proved, Pavia was getting beat up and worn down by the last 3rd of the season. This year more teams will key on him earlier and the beatings will began immediately.

I guess that’s why HE is the coach at UT and you’re not. I love it when the couch potato coaches think they can do a better job than a guy making millions to make these decisions. Maybe you should apply for an analyst role at UT…..
