Did you have the facts

And if we hired him, IF something came to light two years from now, these same reporters would ROAST us for hiring and supporting him.

He was involved in a program that turned their heads to pedophiles.

He was BARELY over .500 at Rutgers.

He was just over .300 at Tampa Bay.

Players hated him as a bully. Fans thought he was aloof and did not communicate.

His baggage is one thing. His coaching is another. His relationship with fans/players is the 3rd strike. 3 strikes and OUT.

If that happened we’d can him. As it stands you guys absolutely screwed a man who all the evidence points to as innocent.

Did you read that article? It makes the position that he took part in any wrongdoing laughable.

BS, sounds like he has a beef with Clay Travis. The fans decided this not Travis. Shiano can get the hell out

This is a case of perception. Whether he knew or not is inconsequential. Currie could’ve announced any other coach today and would not have had that reaction. But he picks the one with that particular baggage, unreal. Oh, and it doesn’t help he is also perceived by most as a so-so coach. Let him build his record at another Rutgers-type school. Although we aren’t far from being a Rutgers-type school.

We all (including myself) went all mob mentality on a guy tonight. You should take an honest look at the facts. The man did a heck of a job at Rutgers. Quit bending the facts.

I have no idea what he saw or didn't see at Penn State. What I do know is that if ANYTHING ever crawled up out of that place that happened to slightly involve him, our university would be skewered. You simply CAN NOT take that type of chance when dealing with a public institution as ours. You can't have any sort of link or possibility that can hang over the head of you highest paid state employee. It just isn't something you should do. He can have the chance somewhere else, but in my opinion, not here. Currie was a fool to think this would go over.

One fact is that he is another coach I had to Google. We have had enough of those. There are better choices available.

National media is letting the fan base have it, but honestly? I really do not care. Normally, I am embarrassed by the antics of our redneck mattress burners, but this is the one time I am happily on their side. I like to think I have been fairly level headed over the reality of this brief, but important, coaching search. I would have been happy with any of Mullen, Frost, or Campbell. I could have stomached a Miles, Sumlin, or even Kiffin. I never deluded myself with the Grumors or any idea of Patterson or Peterson. But from the moment I first heard his name mentioned, I have been a staunch opponent of even the slightest notion of Greg Schiano. Not just because I am not a fan of him as a coach, but because of his blatantly obvious baggage. It is just utterly unfathomable to me how Currie thought this was a good road to take.

I'm not so forward as to say I don't think he survives this, but good God man, you couldn't ask for a worse start.

I guess it depends what one considers a heck of a job...his Rutgers record was just one game over .500 and IMHO that would not qualify as a heck of a job!

Are you happy to blatantly disregard fact and condemn a guy for no reason. Man our fan base is ignorant.

BS. Beyond his record and documented difficult personality if it wasn’t true he should have vigorously attacked the accusation! Hell I would have! His vocation depends on it as we’re seeing today. He never cleared the record. He just denied it. He said/he said. If he’s innocent he should have vigorously gone after McQueary.

At the bottom of the page-"This is an opinion piece. The views expressed in this article are those of just the author." So, my opinion remains the same. Drop this hot tater.

Not sure what more justification is needed than this. Oh and he's friends with Urban Cryer. I don't know that for fact but I'm guessing they kinda like each other.

PSU should have been buried for 20 years. They should not be in the limelight. Shiano got caught up in the mess, guilty of a cover up or not he was there and did nothing. He is damaged goods. Let Meyer keep him

This is what I've been afraid of. I don't want the guy as a coach. But completely destroying his reputation is far from what I wanted.

He went to a bowl game the last 6 of 7 years. Went 11-2 at Rutgers. And was in the top 10 twice.

Funny to see you guys now debating his coaching because it’s obvious you were wrong about the first set of facts.

There’s zero evidence that he knew anything. Can you even read?
