Did Tee Really start this ?

Was Tee the full oc coordinator at USC? Or was he splitting play calling duties? At least that's what I recall. Point is he's basically been a position coach his entire career. Isn't he the WR coach / assistant head coach at UT. Not sure how he warranted the asst HC title.......I just don't see him as ready to be a HC in the sec.

If Tee were HC, I’m sure he’d be the complete opposite of Pruitt and let his coaches actually coach.
My thoughts exactly. It may not be the case, but I can’t help but think Pruitt handcuffed Chaney with personnel decisions and the offensive Play calling he wanted. I think that would be tough on the defense too trying to take instruction in-game from both Ansley and Pruitt. It just seems like there was a lot of mass confusion on the field at times, and I wonder if that might have been a factor. I know the buck stops with the HC, but you’ve also got to trust your assistants and let them do their job.

Underrated post. CEO coaches are still effective in today’s game when they do it right. Not every HC has to be a guru... see Mack Brown for example

Tee also has a below average Wonderlic score. Should UT continue the trend of hiring coaches with low IQ?

So, what's the IQ of Butch, Dooley and Pruitt? They all failed. Saban failed with the Dolphins. His IQ didn't make him a winner there, and he didn't get brilliant over night when he got to Bama either.

I don't refer to myself as loservol on here because I'm a nice guy. We constantly attack and criticize Pruitt. Should Tee be entitled to any less hostility from a frustrated fanbase?

If his group was terrible then yes. The WR corps was one of our best groups and arguably the best group we had this season. Now, if you want to spread hostility, look no farther than Friend.

If Tee Martin had not played at Tennessee would he be under consideration for the HC position here? I mean he hasn’t been under consideration for any jobs other than South Alabama and UNLV. He has no business being the HC at UT until he proves that he can be a successful HC somewhere else.

So, how did Pruitt get hired (no HC experience). What did Dooley do at LaTech?

Of course not but he did play here and he does have passion to see us succeed and that’s an important variable

He has been an assistant for over 15 years. If he was head coach material, chances are he would have already been selected by now or at least not relieved of his duties at USC.

He wasn't relieved. HC wanted to get his brother some experience at the same time to build his resume. It is what it is.

Are we at point in Knoxville we just give anyone a " chance " to prove thier a P5 head coach? We've tried that and it failed. Let's try someone who has P5 HC experience.

AL Golden? Charlie Strong? How bout Herm Edwards? Jimmie Lake? Will Muschamp? Tavaris Robinson? Would say Kevin Steele, but he has no HC experience.

Pruitt got hired because the first guy we “hired” only lasted about two hours. Then we got turned down by the HCs at Purdue and NC State. Then we were going to hire Mike Leach, or at least until the AD who was set to hire him was placed on suspension. Then we hired a guy as AD who had no business being hired as AD and he decided to hire a highly respected DC with no HC experience. That’s how Pruitt got the job.

I need to see the article in question. I'm all for ousting Pruitt, but I'd like Gus, Freeze, Campbell, or Chadwell.

Just my feelings, but I don't care if its Casper the Friendly ghost as long as we get back to winning. My son was just 9 the last time UT was relevant in football 1998

Actually we won the East and played in the SEC Championship game in 2007, losing to LSU.
Fulmer was fired the next year (2008), and we still haven’t recovered.

We haven’t recovered from the downward spiral that started under Fulmer.
Stick to the point of the post. It was stated that we haven’t been relevant since 1998 which is false.

Fact of the matter is, Tennessee represented the East in the SEC Championship game in 2007 and Fulmer was fired in 2008. We haven’t recovered.

Now if you want to argue if playing in the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME is being relevant in college football then go ahead.
Those are still the facts.

Saban had moderate success at Mich. St. Won a natty at LSU before going pro...
