Did CBJ do much better than CDD?

In 2012, CDD did not sign a single O-Lineman out of 22 players. However, CBJ only signed 4 O-lineman in 2014 out of 32 players knowing he had to replace an entire O-Line.
(Blair, Mosley, RR, Thomas). I am in no way doubting the recruiting effort and talent of CBJ, but I would think we needed a few more O-lineman.

I agree with what you are saying about the 2014 class, but could we have predicted that both Mosley and Blair would not have played a snap this year? Given the hype, I think everyone, coaches and fans, fully expected Blair to come in and start from day 1.

you really asking a question like that.since you ask CBJ would have signed more on the o-line if he could but he needed more depth at almost every position.

is it true that blair may redshirt because he came in out of shape.or is he just not learning fast enough to be effective.

I think signing a class like 2011 (6 O-Line) in 2013 or 2014 would have put us in a much better position than we are in now. Skilled players are nice on paper, but when the whistle blows you need the lineman to get things done.

A quick comparison:

So, in 2009, Kiffin recruited 2
From 2010 to 2012, Dooley brought in 10 that were initially shown as OLinemen, of those 3 are still on the roster.
In 2 years, Butch has recruited 7 and there are 4 walk ons/awarded scholarship players for a total of 14 Olinemen.

I can see the switch for Robertson, but the other 7 walk ons is a reach and just a product of attrition. Why award 7 scholarships to walk ons when we had 2 years to actually sigh HS 3* athletes?

Dooley left this team a mess. No speed at all. There was a lot of things that Butch needed for this team. Not just O-linemen. You cant get everything you need in just one recruiting class. Ed O did leave some talent at Ole Miss for Hugh Freeze. Now with his recruiting class he is on top. Dan Mullen at Miss St is in his 6th year he had to rebuild Miss St now look at them. Butch will get it done at Tennessee. Dooley is not even in the same area code in recruiting as Butch is.

Its good to know that all the professional coaches come to Volnation to give their opinions on the job CBJ is doing. Let the man coach and build his team his way. If after year 4 or 5 we are not seeing consistent results then its fair to criticize. Right now he is still working with players from another system, a system that did not work.

I'm baffled by some of the stuff I read on here.

First, he signed 5 because most everybody knew Robertson was an OL player.

Now, did you forget how thin we were at every other position on the field? Butch and company are in this **** hole because of DD plain and simple. What he did was build us some depth on D so we could have a fighting chance in games. Two or three more freshman OL would not have helped us as much as people want to think.

Same on gameday, basically.

Better in recruiting.

Slightly behind in slogans and coachspeak, but gaining fast.

So will it ever not be someone else's fault?

This is the same blather as the Dooley supporters.

This is my first thought but then I look at the OP number of posts. Then I look at oregonvol and think "troll". Then see the post count. Or the coo coo puff cereal boy, you know who I'm talking about.

What is wrong with you people? Do you not have anything better to do than get on here and talk down to a bunch of freshmen trying to block seniors or chastising a coaching staff thats been here 1.5 years??

Go grab a frisbee and throw it with your kids or take them to the movies because you all need a break from the "GAME" of football!

Good grief!

Hell were returning if I had to guess all but 3 starters on both sides of ball next season we haven't been blowed out all season and were playing the least INEXPEREINCED group cfb!

If we are not competing for the SEC in 2016 I'll put the blame on Butch and company. They will have had ample time to right the ship or sink it again.
