Did CBJ do much better than CDD?

In 2012, CDD did not sign a single O-Lineman out of 22 players. However, CBJ only signed 4 O-lineman in 2014 out of 32 players knowing he had to replace an entire O-Line.
(Blair, Mosley, RR, Thomas). I am in no way doubting the recruiting effort and talent of CBJ, but I would think we needed a few more O-lineman.

If dooley had signed 4 instead of 0 Butch wouldn't be 3-3 this year...
This is about as dumb as it gets. What 4? Any 4? Do you realize that we had 16 OLs on the roster in 2012? Only 2 were SRs. He recruited quite a few, like D. J. Humphries, Andrew Jelks, Vadal Alexander, and Cody Waldrop. Facing major probation probably had at least some affect on his ability to land 1 or 2 of those. He signed 5 the previous yr, and may have felt that would still be around to restock in 2013.

If he signed 4 warm bodies just to fill the roster, what's to say that they would perform any better than the 6 upper-classmen we have now?

Yes, so far CBJ has out performed compared to CDD. Bottom line, there were glaring deficiencies all over the field when CBJ hired on and he's been working to address and fill many, many voids from day-one.

The reason we're focusing on the O-Line is because they are currently the weakest link — therefore, they're getting all the attention. This time last year, we were focused on QB play and RB production.

Let me end by stating that I'm not giving anyone a free pass, and I think it's important to have candid conversations about honest issues. But comparatively, we were deficient on talent and Coach Jones and staff have been working to correct that. Now, if the staff goes into 2015 and 2016 without addressing such, then we know the size of the rebuild is getting away from them. However, I strongly doubt such would ever occur.
