As an outsider (yes, I am a weirdo who is a Gator grad, but worked at Oak Ridge National Lab, so have a lot of Vol friends), I have to ask those who know, how has it come to be that a school known for great linemen literally for decades on end has put such a pedestrian offensive line out there for several years running. Honestly, if Dobbs could generate even 5-8 more completions per game in the passing game, this offense of UT's would rank with the elite in the country, but with that line in front of him, I just cannot see how it will happen.
As for Saturday, that was a pretty fair and accurate summary. I feel badly for the UT kids, I really do. They deserved that win, but it does seem like that Butch and his assistants get way too conservative toward the end of games. That makes it twice as hard on the players because teams like Florida and OK were never worried while trailing late in the game because everyone knows the UT tendencies to just shut it down and play not to lose.
