Devrin Young's potential....

people keep talking about his weight, then turn around and gush about kimbrow for the 2012 class...i've watched film on both and IMO DY is the better football player...kimbrow is a pnenomenal athlete, but DY isn't chopped liver. My biggest problem with all these guys this size is a) can they put on decent weight and maintain their speed and quickness and b) how do they translate to a prostyle offense (better suited for the spread)....all that being said their skill set applies very well to the return game. can't wait to see DY on punt returns.

I went to three of his games this year, and each team that bearden was playing would not kick it off to him unless they had a good lead. but, when they finally did kick it to him due to the big lead, DY took each one to the house.:loco:

Granted, this will be nothing like high school ball, but if that doesn't completely kill the Anti-Devrin Young crowd's argument, I have no clue what will. :loco:

I understand that its not going to be easy for him or anyone in this case, but I will be happy if he can gain that 25 to 30 yards on a kickoff without fumbling. He is so fast out of the hole I believe getting that kind of yardage on a kickoff will eventually come easy to him just because of pure burst and speed but different story on punt returns he will need some good blocking to help out there, but that is something he is not used to. I believe he works out fine.

DY's a gamer...low center of gravity, good balance, quick, elusive, & very good field vision. His contribution and impact will be ST's.

Stats from DY's underclassmen combine:
4.4 40
4.16 shuttle
32.9 vertical leap

Agreed, dude is a KR & PR extraordinaire---a ST playmaker.

Look for DY & VD (4.35 40) as the primary return specialists. JMO.

I think DY will be a solid return man at Tennessee.

However, returning kicks for TDs against teams that are blowing Bearden out isn't a ringing endorsement of his abilities.

I'm glad he's a Vol. He seems like a really good kid, and hopefully he will make us proud on and off the field....GBO.
