Am I the only one who feels that DY could end up being one of the most valuable and fan-favorite recruits in this class?

I understand that he is rated lowly because of his size and the HS competition in TN but I can't help but be reminded of Desean Jackson when I watch video on him. The kid is dynamite and should vastly outperform his low ranking. His film doesn't look low 3/borderline 2 star to me.

If he played in almost any other state in the South he would have been a 4 star. His speed translates to any level of football and we have all seen how guys like Danny Woodhead and Wes Welker have done recently in the NFL. They are all taller than he is but height has nothing to do with what he will be used for and he should be able to get to 185 without losing any speed.

I'm sure all the DY haters will flame my post and I'm not saying that he is on any of the previously mentioned players' level but I'm excited to see what his kind of speed can do. I will be shocked if he does not at least run a P or KO back in 2011....

If he can get to 180 then I don't consider that small for 5'7. I see his height as an advantage for finding creases in defenses.

Quizz Rogers has no problem playing well at his height and can take hits. If football is all about leverage then being short is not a bad thing at his position.

You can't teach a kid to be able to run that fast and cut that quickly. I think most impressed with the vision he shows on film. Add a few inches to him or put him in an area with better competition and he is an elite recruit.

I know DY is smaller than quiz, but I have seen quiz absolutely truck some people.

Not saying he will be any of these players, just saying that it seems to me that with some work put in with McKeefery, he should be just fine.

DY's are a dime a dozen. So much is based on location and team performance. IMO there are many small town guys that never get noticed because of the perceived lack of talent they play against and the size of the school they attend. Im excited that we finally gave one of those guys a shot, now lets see what he can do.!!

I hope he gets his hands on the first kickoff of '11. I believe this "Young" man is going to be dynamite for our return game. Something we have been lacking. Explosiveness.

DY is no toothpick if you look at the size of his neck in his profile pic.This YOUNG man still has some growing to do and he has the heart and desire to prove to everyone he deserved a shot.I congratulate CDD on giving him the opportunity and I believe he will take the rock to the house many times for the Big Orange. :rock:

If he had played in any other state - his competition would have been better - resulting in worse stats - then resulting in the same ranking basically. The ranking is right.

I saw him play in HS, about him being able to take a hit, he is real good at avoiding hits, also he played safety and gave some hit too, the kid will be alright.:loco:

Saw him against Jeff. Co. last year, was fun to watch him. It was insane.

Funny thing about physics. When 225 runs into 225 there is usually some pain and equal stoppage. When 225 hits 165-170, there is some recoil difference and the 225 isn't slowed down as much so impact is less.

At least we now have at least one and it only cost 1/12 of a dime. I like the potential returns on that investment. I know we have needed someone with his skills for a number of years. He can not fail worse than the previous players who have failed. At least he has speed can see the hole, and avoid tacklers. We have not had those skills in a player in a long time.

When I was in High School our third string QB walked on at TSU then hit a growth spurt (from 5'7 165 to 6'4 220)then went on and played 13 years in the NFL.There is still a chance.

By saying Devrin Young did this against weeker talent AND was definately a 3 star AND that we would not be this great in tougher football regions is an absolute joke! If the competition would be tougher on defense, wouldn't his blocking be better to? His elusivness will take over any where he goes! I went and watched many games of Devrin...........he had to CREATE his own holes. But once he found them, not even the best player on the other team could tackle him. He will be a difference maker in his first year which in my opinion, if you can start as a freshman in the SEC, you deserve in the least a 4th star. GO DY! AND GO VOLS!
