Is it possible that Dooley might actually give him a heavy shot in Buffalo game? I'm not really on the d young bandwagon but it's undeniable that he is the fastest possible choice at RB though he is lacking in size. But with the reports about him getting reps with 1st team today is interesting to say the least. If our oline can open the holes, even small holes, he could probably zip right through them. I say give it a shot at least. Thoughts?

If DY is taking reps at running back we are in serious trouble. I assumed he was strictly special teams.

Just givin the guy a shot. Poole or Lane is our top 2 guys maybe they are adding some screen plays and outside runs in the offense

I think that was the general consensus when we brought him in. Though reports were out that he did well as RB on scout team (though that's not much to be excited about). But if he's getting reps with 1st team, maybe they've noticed something extra about him. It seems that several ppl around here have seen him play and think he is special. I'm intrigued by this in general and would be interested in seeing how he does in the Buffalo game. I would prefer Poole and Lane to carry running game but it's not working yet. So maybe they think they should add more speed to the mix?

And what about Tom Smith? What's latest word on his progress? Too bad Toney Williams left, he looked good in spring.

I just read that he was getting reps at RB and assumed the reporter was surprised he wasn't playing WR or that he was getting reps at all. Where did you see he was getting 1st team reps?

I just read on GVX that Devrin, Tom Smith, Tiny, and Neal were getting "worked into" the offense because they missed a lot of time this fall with injuries. I think they're just getting the young kids who weren't here this fall reps, not necessarily working them in to be starters.

I might have misread somewhere. i remember just seeing he was getting more RB reps and misconstrued it as 1st team reps.

You may be right. I just read it as they were getting extended reps cause they were out, but they may have been with the first team.

Dooley said its time to add some competition to fire some people up. DY will bust his ass thats for sure. He may not be as good as the other two but he will have more want to than either because hes got a chip on his shoulder. Might be a good thing.

Just sweep him around the end like UF foes with their little guys.

I think this kid will be a defensive nightmare in space. He won't be competing with Poole and Lane for their primary roles. He's a whole different breed of cat.

Word is he has great hands. Screens, dumps on blitzes, end-runs,

Poole is not even close to the problem...but i think we faced the most talented dline we will see all year with exception to lsu

To hear Dooley tell it, it is the RBs. Running scared I think is the term he used.

Who knows? I definitely don't, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in a game, to see what he is capable of. I bet he for sure gets 5, or so carries in the Buffalo game.

Well he might be right, but when I watched the game I saw our o-line getting punished. Even James got whipped on a consistent basis. However I do think that Florida's recipe for success against us had more to do with it than anything, which is stop the run and make us rely on the passing game where their speedy DBs can be opportunistic. Just my opinion.

Actually, I could see young providing an interesting dynamic. He's fast, and maybe after the buffalo game, he will have given defenses something to think about if he is on the field for a certain play. His versatility could be good.

Maybe Dooley was taking notes on what Florida does with Rainey. He's not as fast as Rainey but he's fast enough to be effective on swing passes and screens. I wouldn't hand it off to him though or even give it too him on a toss... keep him as far away from our O-Line as possible because they are awful.

What was the name of the small running back that got some reps late in the games, when Fulmer was here? He was from Virginia. He didn't play much but when he did, he busted his tail!!!

Neal is the fastest player on the team and it hasn't made that much of a difference.

JMO but if CDD thinks Young has a chance to get the running game going I'm all for it..Sometimes smaller, quicker RB's like Young help OL block better because they don't have to maintain a block as long or open as big of a hole to run through..JMHO

D Young if given playing time against Buffalo will surprise big time. I can't wait to see him in action.
