Destiny

I still enjoy the raid but after a few more times I can imagine it will become boring...especially with a group of morons.

Great... So as I feared, it seems likely that to get to light level 32, you'll need all new raid gear from the new raid, rendering any raid gear from Vault of Glass obsolete.

If that's what each expansion is going to do, I'll grow tired of this game real fast. Though I suppose you would still need VoG gear to reach high enough level to complete the new raid. That may be the direction they're heading.

If that's all they are bringing, Destiny is going to be a short ride.

Back to more positive things...Saw this video last night. This guy kicks serious ass.

Nightfall solo in under 6 minutes. Wow.

Destiny: Nexus Nightfall Strike SOLO Speedrun - YouTube

Also, watched a video yesterday of a group beating VoG hard mode in under 30 minutes. That was also impressive.

Wow! A buddy and I tried to do the weekly heroic at 28 last night (I am 27, he is 26). Got to the nexus but had no shot.

I'm finally going to hit level 20 tonight. Advice at this point?

I'm at this point Freak and the game doesn't really provide solid guidance on what to do next.

You basically have to start grinding for gear that gives you increasing amounts of light moving forward.

Build your rep with the crucible and vangard - also join one of the factions and start building rep with them too.

You're right. It's not really clear. I know I need to get my vanguard rank up. But beyond that, what's the best way to grind for gear when you've just hit level 20?

If you dont really play crucible forget the factions. Work on getting your vanguard rank up. Complete as many vanguard bounties as possible. Its all about finding gear. Start playing the vanguard strikes when you unlock them, you get vanguard rep and vanguard marks (you can buy guns and armor with this). Also, get lucky when it comes to engrams lol

When you can, do the daily story mission, the weekly herioc and the nightfall (need to be higher levels). I am sure some of the others have better tactics for this. Hope this helps.

This is all correct.

Patrols and doing missions helps with Vanguard rank. I do a lot of those.

Each planet has a different element that spawns everywhere (helium, blooms, metal). Collect those when doing patrol missions. You'll constantly run out of this stuff when you start upgrading your gear and weapons so no reason to not to collect every chance you get.

Play a lot of strikes. They will get boring and take forever, but it's a good way to get stuff afterwards.

When you get to 23 or 24, you can run the top strike playlist. You get a decent amount of engrams and random legendary stuff to make it worth playing a hour or two.

As you level up, they will become shorter and shorter. People will start skipping parts you don't have to play and you'll do more damage.

I found levels 23-26 to be a grind and fairly time consuming.

Yea, if they're going to try to make the vault mandatory for leveling up, my time with this game will be short.

They're doing a good job of alienating the fan base. Making changes many people hate, and charging 20 bucks for "DLC" that was on the disc when we bought it.

One good thing about completing the story: I got a Stranger's Rifle, which was better than any primary weapon I had. Of course that may just be a testament to the crappy weaponry that I own.

I understand that! I was using a rare primary for the longest time and just got the exotic suros regime. It is amazing.

You're still going to level up basically the same way, just substitute reputation instead of XP. Once you hit rank 3, you'll get legendaries every rank up that you get, in addition to being able to buy them with your vanguard marks.

Once you've completed all the vanguard bounties for the day, run the highest level strike playlist that you can at your level. This will give you higher level rare gear drops to increase you eventually up to level 24. Once you hit 24, hopefully you can afford to buy a couple legendary pieces.

Do the weekly heroic and daily heroics at the highest level you can, too.

Hoard strange coins and motes of light in addition to your marks. Use them to buy exotic pieces and engrams from Xur Fridays and Saturdays. It will take a little bit, but before too long you'll be racking up so many purple and yellow/orange you won't know what to do with them.

Rosen, big thanks for helping/carrying us through the nightfall. Lol

You guys pretty much held your own and took care of the Min. That's probably the hardest part of the mission... keeping him in check. I think we did just fine.

Sounds like you might try the raid early Friday afternoon. I'll be around probably 7 or 8 Friday. If you want to run it then, I'd be happy to join you.

If it's your first time doing the Raid, I'd suggest skimming over a couple videos or tutorial on how to play it. Will just make life easier and the raid a lot quicker.

From reading last night, seems like a lot of people are having issues on the final boss. Wrong number teleporting, connection drops, etc. Hopefully it's minor stuff they are patching behind the scenes right now.

I saw a youtube tutorial for dummies on the raid which was pretty good. I might try the raid Friday night not sure yet though. I think Thrasher is planning on trying it earlier.

Thanks Thrasher. That gives me some direction. I got to 21 but looks like I just need to put my head down and keep grinding. :)

I am bad about checking my friend's list while playing but if you ever see me on, feel free to hop in or send an invite.

Not sure how y'all are running the nightfall/weekly heroic, but me and a buddy found a super simple way to beat the Nexus. When you get to the point at the end where you jump off the ledge to enter the arena and have to kill the minotaurs....don't jump. Kill the minotaurs from the ledge. Occasionally one will spawn behind you, so just tag team him with weapons that do void. If you think you killed all the minotaurs but Sekrion doesn't appear, there's still at least one more down there. Sometimes they would be at the very base of the cliff below and almost out of sight.

After the minotaurs are clear, Sekrion will appear. From the ledge, you can hit him with precision non stop. His shield doesn't go up high enough to cover him. Also from up there, you don't have to mess with the numerous spawning goblins/hobgoblins. A minotaur will spawn behind you about once minute, but just tag team him and he goes down quick.

We beat the nightfall and weekly heroic pretty easily doing this. And if you're defense is strong enough, you can just run past pretty much everyone from the start to get to the end. I don't remember any points in the mission where you're required to clear out enemies.

the final battle is full of glitches. We had multiple people teleport to wrong side sometimes nobody teleporting at all, walking through the portal would lead to a wrong room or direction. We finally knocked it out after about five wipes due to glitches that were not overcomable.

This is what we did last night. Worked perfectly.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I hardly check my friends list but I'll keep an eye out for you.

Can someone explain the class armor? I'm not sure I understand it's significance since it doesn't really have any attributes.
