Destiny

Sounds good, thanks for helping me get to 25 yesterday. I played for a few hours last night. I am addicted to this game now

NP. Playing in groups is always more fun. I just need a bunch of materials and ascendant shards to reach 28 and 29 now.

That's how it was for me too. It was really slow going at first. Once I got my first legendaries, I became addicted.

any word on if/when they will have a player barter/trade system.

I'm sitting on a few items I cannot use as a titan

they should at least least us sell the damn gear we can't use!

Nightfall this week is pretty tough. Tried a few times solo and it wasn't happening for me. Guess I'll have to get some people to help.

The Thralls can one hit you (or touch). And the poison dudes can do serious damage if you get near them.

Max daily is fairly easy today. Just watch out if you stand in the door way on the last section. The 2nd or 3rd wave will come down the stairs behind you. That almost got me when I went through it.

Blue gear is worthless, anyway. Glimmer is almost never an obstacle. Once you are higher level, you will keep maxing out and try to find things to buy just so that you don't waste it by sitting at the 25,000 cap.

And purples break down to ascendant materials, which are more valuable than anything you would sell them for anyway.

The system is fine. Allowing trades would basically ruin the loot system, IMO.

Are you still lvl 27? I'm so close to 28. Did you solo the lvl 28 daily? I haven't soloed anything level 28 yet. Will you be on tonight or tomorrow? I could run through the Nightfall if you want to try to set up an approximate time.

I'm lvl 29 now. I got a bunch of shards and energy from the Vault last week. It was just a matter of farming the crap from each planet.

I just did the Nightfall. After failing with some dudes I should have never started with, got a solid group and we finished it with no real problems. The 4 wizards in the first big room are the hardest part. The last guy can be sniped from outside and just takes patience. All in all, I think the Archon Priest was harder. (got the SUROS exotic auto rifle and 2 shard for finishing it this week)

I should be around tomorrow and maybe late tonight. I still need to do the weekly on max.

Having the XP boost all week is very nice.

Nice. That's what I'm holding strange coin for to buy from Xur if he sells it.

My glimmer is maxed cause I'm waiting on the gunsmith to sell rare fusion rifles. I have to dismantle 8 more rare fusion rifles for this exotic bounnty.

I just can't imagine using a different exotic than the Ice Breaker. It's my #1 gun by far.

Never could get into Fusion rifles. Got a legendary one (Wizard 77) but the only time I use it is when the daily bounty of shooting 2 guys comes up.

I wasn't big on fusion rifles till I had to get a bunch of kills for an exotic bounty in the crucible. Used a fusion rifle and really got used to it. Plus I like that I can carry more fusion rifle ammo than sniper/shotgun.

Yea, Ice Breaker is awesome. I've got a rotation of sniper rifles depending on what heavy weapon I have equipped. I have two exotic sniper rifles, Ice Breaker and Patience and Time, and one legendary, The Supremacy. I have two exotic heavy weapons, Thunderlord and The Truth, and one legendary rocket launcher, The Cure. I carry all these all the time and swap around depending on what I need.

Any tips for a noob? I haven't had much time to play so I'm only Level 7.

Imo, if you think you'll stick with the game, hold onto the spinmetal/spirit bloom/relic iron/helium filaments instead of trading them in for glimmer I think. You'll need a bunch of these to level up legendary/exotic gear later on after you hit level 20.

Find some friends to play with. I wonder if I would have even stuck with the game if I didn't have a couple buddies in my fireteam. The missions are all the same. Go to this point, deploy dinkleghost, fight off enemies. Plus it is nice to not have to do everything by yourself. If you can get a couple friends that are higher level, that'd be even better.

Once you hit level 20, more stuff opens up.

PS4? If so, add me: RockyTopPE

You will reach level 20 within a week or so. That's when the game actually gets fun. The story is terrible. I would only use it to level your character up.

As soon as you hit 18 or 20 or whatever it is where you can start earning Vanguard rep, (or maybe you can from the beginning?) do ALL the vanguard bounties every day that you play. You want to level your Vanguard reputation to rank 2 so you can buy legendary armor and then rank 3 so you can buy weapons.

No matter what anyone tells you, unless you have friends willing to basically carry you through higher level weekly strikes, this is THE absolute fastest way you will get outfitted with legendary armor and weapons. I have 4 legendary and 1 exotic armor, and I've bought all but one of them. Once you can complete level 28 missions, you will get plenty of legendaries and some exotics, but getting to that point will require vanguard rep.

If you enjoy the crucible too, then join a faction. Vanguard and Crucible rep will both be applied to your faction, so you can then rank up faster. The only problem is you can only use Crucible marks to buy stuff from the factions. I wound up with a bunch of Vanguard marks left over, so I had to go back and get my Vanguard rank up after that. I don't play Crucible nearly as much as strikes and missions. Also, the Vanguard has a wider selection of weapons and armor than the factions.

Yeah, it seems like level 20 is key.

I sent you a friend request. I've always been a xbox junkie so I don't have many friends on PS4 that play, unfortunately.

I'm still not familiar with all the lingo.

I think I've accepted the vanguard bounties. Are the number of these limited?

I got one about a weekly heroic or nightfall, but I'm not sure I'm able to do those yet with my rank??

What's a faction?

There are 5 Vanguard bounties and 5 Crucible bounties a day. Some are easier than others and they are worth varying amounts of reputation and marks. Marks are used as currency to buy things from the Vanguard and Crucible guys in the tower. Save marks and don't spend any until you get enough reputation to reach Vanguard/Crucible Rank 2. At that point you can buy legendary armor. Rank 3 for weapons.

There are three factions, and they basically replace the vanguard/crucible rank. You join one by finding the representative of that faction and buying and equipping a class item from them. While wearing that item, all reputation will be applied to that faction, rather than vanguard or crucible.

If you don't play a lot of competitive multiplayer, I would just rank up Vanguard rep first. If you do a lot of coop/singleplayer as well as crucible multiplayer each week, then it will be quicker to join a faction, since vanguard and crucible reputation is applied to it. So you are ranking up one faction, rather than vanguard and crucible separately.

Once you get Vanguard/Crucible/Faction rep rank 3, you will get legendary items in the mail every rank-up. I'm about to hit Vanguard rank 3. I'll have to see what I get in the mail. But I'm most excited for the ability to buy a legendary primary weapon with my Vanguard marks.

Just play through the story to hit level 20. Daily heroic story missions are basically just replaying a story mission with modifiers active that make it more difficult. These are level 22, 24 and 28, I believe.

Weekly heroic strikes are replayed strikes with heroic modifiers active. These are pretty hard. They are level 22, 26 and 28.

Weekly heroic strikes are all level 28. You cannot die on these. If your entire fireteam dies, you are kicked out of the strike. No checkpoints. These strikes offer the best rewards of any strikes. Pretty much guaranteed something legendary.

Hope this helps, but this will all become more apparent once you reach level 20, which happens quicker than you think. Bounties are going to be the quickest way to level both XP and reputation until you can do the daily and weekly events.

Freak, getting to level 20 is pretty quick. After that... not so much lol. Thrasher you going to be on any tonight?

I will probably be on around 9-11pm.

It's not so much that it's super slow, but it comes in spurts. It's steady and predictable relying on XP up to level 20, but with light levels (after 20) the way it worked for me was I shot right up to level 24 almost immediately by quickly finding some max light rare gear. Then I stalled until I ranked up the Dead Orbit faction.

Once I got it to rank 2 and Vanguard to rank 2, I was able to buy 4 legendaries and an exotic from Xur all within about a week and went from 24 to 27. Now it will be slow and steady collecting ascendant materials to upgrade to 29. After that, all you can do is the Vault of Glass raid to get level 30 raid gear.

Buddy asked for help on a VoG run yesterday. I joined up. Saw a lvl 24 and two lvl 25 along with two lvl 29s. It was not a good idea.

We finally got the Vault open after an hour and help from a random in that area. Then, we got through the first 3 phases of the Templar. Me and one other dude were the only ones that knew what was going on. No one listened or actually covered what they said they would when things got heated. It was just stupid.

Anyway, I sort of knew how the Templar works, but found this youtube video that is great at explaining everything. He's also got good, detailed videos for Atheon and the gorgon maze. Figured I'd share.

At the end of the day, if you have 6 guys lvl 26+, the VoG isn't that hard if folks know whats going on. If you have no clue and just hop in, cross your fingers you are with someone that knows how to play it. Also, good idea to watch a video on chest locations. Don't want to miss those.
