Destiny

Good read and it makes sense. I think the loot caves are useful, but only at lower levels.

For me, it was a nice spring board to level 10 - which is allowing me to blow through lower level missions and bounties solo.

Yeah, probably not the best way to get legendary items. I don't have any legendary items.

But after hitting level 20 and having all rare armor, I needed some light armor. After about 20 minutes at the cave, I was able to replace all my rare armor with some more comparable items to get to light level 22. Now I can work on trying to replace them individually with purples as I can find some.

Basically the armor I had at level 20 would have been good enough for level 22 if I had found it after reaching the cap. But since it all came before the cap, none of it had any light stats.

What is the importance of having light armor? More agility?

I read a few things that said to join a faction. I was late doing that, but joined FW. Did everyone else join a faction?

I've had good luck with lvl 22 and 24 strikes giving decent stuff. Seems about 50/50 I'll end up with something worth keeping.

Still no luck getting an exotic bounty. Haven't bought any weapons or armor yet.

Edit to add the new patch is up now.
------------------
With this patch, we address some widely-discussed concerns with how Engrams are earned and claimed. Strikes have become more rewarding, and the rewards gained from them are more predictable. Also affected is the rotation of maps that appear in the Crucible.

Cryptarch
Legendary (purple) engrams will always produce a

Legendary quality item or higher

Note: Legendary engrams that exist in your inventory will change to Rare quality items when the patch is applied. However, decoding these engrams will still produce the same results as before

Rare (blue) engrams will always produce a Rare quality item or higher Chance for Legendary gear increased

Materials: Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Energy promoted to Legendary quality (from Rare quality)
Rewards

Rare (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) Engram drops added to the potential rewards for:

Vanguard: Tiger Strike Playlist

Daily Heroic Missions (first time per day)

Weekly Heroic Missions (first time per week)

Known issues

When selecting a higher difficulty for daily missions, XP

Bonus not show in the reward display

You will still get the XP bonus, you just won't see it in the UI

Crucible
Reduced time limit on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash from 15 to 12 minutes, bringing them in line with non-vehicle maps in those playlists

Lowered weighting on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash so they appear less often in those playlist

I was late to join a faction also. I joined FWC but have not played much since joining.

I haven't joined a faction. Didn't look into it much but just thought it was a way to get reputation so you could buy their equipment.

I did the exotic bounty for the hand cannon Thorn. It's not bad, but it's terrible in large groups of enemies or if you're playing by yourself. Only holds six bullets. Reloads slowly. I read online that Bungie realizes it's kind of underpowered (and the pulse rifle too I think?) for being exotic and all the trouble it took to get it. They said don't dismantle them for shards just yet. There's more to come for them.

Might be a dumb question but how do you get exotic bounties?

They may be talking about the Queen's Wrath bounties. I think you probably get them by visiting the Queen. I haven't done any. I might have time to play tomorrow afternoon, if you're on.

From what I've read, it's just a completely random bounty the guy gives you when turning yours in. They are supposed to be more difficult.

Thanks guys. I have done a ton of bounties. Hopefully one will pop up soon..

I turned in like 4 or 5 bounties at once and then I got the option to pick one of 3 exotic. I just picked the first one. Random as far as I know. But like someone said earlier, research the options before you pick. Know what you've got to do to earn it.

The Queen's Wrath Bounties aren't really worth doing imo except for the experience. Doing them gets you "Queen's Favor" but you have to be level 2 to buy crap from her rep. I looked and didn't really see anything I wanted. And I think the Queens Wrath stuff is limited time. Oct 6th is the end I think? I still do the bounties but just because many pay out 5000 experience.

Doing a Queens Wrath mission, not bounty, should net you something legendary or exotic. I've done it a couple times, but got legendary armor for Hunter or Warlock. I'm a Titan.

But don't you have to complete a Queen's bounty to unlock a mission? I haven't even been on since that started, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Doing a couple queens bounties will unlock queen kill missions. These missions should net you a few pieces of legendary armor ( chest/ helm).

Anyone here tried the Vault of Glass mission?

Me and a buddy got recruited by some random folks about 3am. We'd never done it so we figured why not. Didn't really know what I was getting myself into.

Five and a half hours later, we were a little over halfway through. Me and someone else had to quit before we finished. Gonna meet back up with them tonight and pick up where we left off.

I watched my son beat the Vault of Glass earlier this week. It is just too insane for me to ever consider. I'm only a level 18, and he is a level 29. I still haven't beaten the main game, because of real life things getting in the way and spending too much time on Super Mario 3D World.

Still watching the team work it took between the 6 of then to beat it was pretty cool.

Be prepared for a limp-dick ending. Seriously the "story" in this game is a joke.

I try to pay attention to the story, but I'm usually too busy killing things to care!

I always have an ear for Robot Tyrion, however

I don't play Bungie games for the story. I am still not sure what the hell was going on in Halo to this today, and beat them all up to Reach expect Halo 2.

I suspected that when Bungie released the update a couple weeks back killing the loot cave/making legendary engrams actually give legendary items/ect that they would cut back on legendary engram drops.....

I haven't gotten a legendary drop from an enemy since they released that patch. My cryptarch rating has gone up 4 times. Prior to the patch I would often get legendary items or ascendant material. The past 3 upgrades, it just gives me a couple rare engrams.

They killed random legendary equipment.

Anyone else having issues getting legendary gear? I've had rare armor (blue) with max light (15) for a while now but I can't seem to get any legendary stuff. I typically do the daily/weekly heroic and crucible stuff. I don't farm...is that what I need to be doing?

If you think GETTING Legendary gear sucks, wait until you start trying to upgrade it!
