Hey Guys (and Gals)! I am from South Louisiana and have been a Volunteers fan for years. I do not post on here often but I do have one thing I would like to mention. I have noticed that Dooley's recruiting style is a little different from Lane Kiffin's approach in that he is being alot more selective on the kids he is going after, instead of using the "Umbrella" approach like the previous staff. It seems as though he is targeting smarter players that have a greater chance of staying in school all 4-5 years opposed to becoming academic casualties in year 2 or 3 or not even qualifying at all. If the players he is recruiting are Tennessee quality, I like this approach. I like it quite a bit. It is going to take time to get this roster back where it needs to be to compete with Florida and Bama but I have the confidence we will get there, eventually. I live with a bunch of Tiger fans down here is Cajun Country and they absolutely love Derek Dooley. They wanted him to replace Les Miles. Alright folks. I am out! Just thought I would throw that out there. This topic is open for discussion. Go Vols Baby!

I don't care who he recruits or how he does it, I just want a good product on the field with winning results.

Granted teams will always have a few bad seeds I would like to see UT have a lower number regardless of "star" quality.

Ask Vandy how recruiting "smart" players is working out for them.

I want thugs, I want a kid who will run for 150 yards and 3 TD's and then after the game shoot an AK just because he feels like it.

The meaner, the better. I want a guy to gauge the opposing players eyes.

Basically, I want to be Florida.

All kidding aside, I just want to get back to winning football...been awhile since I woke up on a Saturday and thought, " We are going to beat the sh#t outta this team" and that team not be a WKU type.

Yeah. All of my LSU buddies were super P.O.'d when they heard that we were getting Derek Dooley. They ranted and raved about his organizational skills and how well he pays attention to detail in everything that he does. I do not put a bunch of stock in his record at Louisiana Tech. That program has been at the bottom of the barrel for a long time. I think he has all of the intangibles it takes to be a premier college football coach, given the time and resources it takes to do it. There are alot of no name coaches out there that have done it and are continuing to be highly successful at football programs with a heck of alot less that Tennessee has. We may be down now, but Tennessee has too much history and too many resources to stay down for long. Just look at Alabama. Nick Saban and Urban Meyer both had to start somewhere. Nick Saban was an average football coach at Michigan State before he went down to Baton Rouge where they actually had surrounding talent and the resources to get the kids there. Derek Dooley is going to do fine. It is just going to take some time. Sit back. Relax. And enjoy the BIG ORANGE ride folks.

One thing Lane was very good with last year was penalties... We were very discipline and it will be hard to repeat that

For the first half of the season that was true. I don't remember if it was true in the second half, but it certainly wasn't true in the 'Bama game. Maybe that's just the most memorable one.

7-5 with a roster full of good citizens, or 11-1 and competing for championships with a few "bad apples" on the team. I'll take the latter.

Any sane person would. Unfortunately, there exists a plethora of UT fans that would not fall into this category.

It doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other. I'm pretty sure we went 7-5 last year with a team full of Fulmer/Kiffin thugs. It's not an either-or proposition... lets win AND stay out of jail.
