Derek Dooley......(merged)

I am not so sure Kippy wants the job.

If this happens with Dooley, Hamilton needs to be fired. I know I have been defending him up to this point but I started remembering something Hamilton said during our last coaching search, that UT was not as a desirable job as one would think. I wonder if he is short selling this program?

After you have to sit face-to-face with a bunch of people and can't convince them to come, you probably develop that opinion. It may an opinion based on experience and not on his own assessment.

He was a glorified errand boy at LSU and can't win in the WAC. You tell me.

Didn't Saban bring him to Miami though? I know pretty much nothing about his responsibilities at LSU, but being a recruiting coordinator that Saban liked enough to eventually hire again doesn't look too bad.

Didn't even consider this, but well said Hat. At this point who do you think UT should be going after?
From the facts as I'm pretty confident they stand, Tennessee should be hiring Kippy Brown. If I were running things, I'd be calling Greg Schiano or Rich Rodriguez. However, Mike Hamilton doesn't seem to share my penchant for bold moves.

If you go in to an interview not allowing the other side to negotiate a contract than that happens.

Don't you think being dragged through the media as another disloyal departure during recruiting season factors into their reasons for not coming?

Stoops turn us down then? Or was he never actually offered?

So far UT in 2009 and USC in 2010, since you are using head coaching records as your criteria.

Yeah well at least Kiffin was coming from a terrible nfl organization that no one can win at.. this dude has went 4 and 8 in the WAC

Great move! Perfect setup for Dooley to coach UGA in 2011!

UT = stepping stone Hamilton = doormat

This isn't a premier program anymore.. I can think a couple SEC teams that are better (Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU) plus if you lose here it stays with you(ask Fulmore he can't get another job even over skip holtz). Toughest conference in nation, tought to recruit, have to be at the top of your game every week, not the pressure a lot of coaches can handle..

I've pretty well decided Kippy is the best scenario for us at this stage as well. I wasn't sure how you would feel about him considering that he spent some time on Fulmer's staff, and your distaste for all things Fulmer is well known around here.
