Depth Chart

Just based on the size and weight of the players on the Oline and the Dline, I think that UT is definitely going to struggle with the bigger more physical teams in the conference.

Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi are going to have some real advantages on the LOS based on weight and depth. Like seriously, how is Sullins at 260-270 going to move Cody? Or Owens and Atkins? Or Marsh at Florida?

It'll be interesting to see what this team looks like. I'm torn. Either this team will be tough, hard-nosed, and plucky... or they're just going to look terrible. I don't think there's a lot of room for middle ground this year.

New zone blocking scheme depends more on athleticism than size-------as in the Denver Broncos. Terrell Davis gained a ton of yards behind a smallish line. AND--no guts hanging over the beltline this year.

There are some questions about why several co-starters were listed and I wanted to throw this out as an unrelated reason,,,, we are competing against several ex pro coaches and having this many players listed means more players these coaches and their players have to prepare for,,,,, more film to watch, more tendencies to look for,,,,

a lot more work,,, I would not be surprised to see this kind of roster throughout the season.

I think some freshmen were told they could start----hence the co #1's. Also, Kiffin is sending a message to recruits.

Good question on Vinson. Why hasn't he moved up/onto the depth chart? He stepped up big his freshman year. I know injuries and off the field problems have been issues, but he is more talented than any of the non-freshman corners. I also wonder why he was never given a look at WR in the Spring since that was his position out of high school.

Damn, I thought Hughes and D. Williams was gonna get te go at DT. Brown just looks too small to be a DT. I hope we get Moore and Jones back soon, at least before UF

Hubbs said that the depth chart is not really accurate, that it is just what we gave WKU. He said Vinson is just getting over injury but that he and Gordon are currently running 2nd team at CB with Evans and Anderson the starters.

I don't think that the staff wants two nose tackles. It sounds like they want a smaller DE/DT hybrid to go with a nose tackle. I imagine that is why Brown is in over either Williams/Hughes.

Wouldn't exactly try to sell this DC on the internet as a prized collectible. I would say based on our staff's tendency to divert attention from one thing to another, this is merely just a skeleton list of players. I would argue that it barely means anything in relation to what we're going to see on the field week in and week out.

All i gotta say is what happened to Ben Martin.. he was starting to come along the end of last year

I want to take a minute to commend Mike Edwards. He was somewhat of an afterthought of our signing class, but it looks like he has come in and in 2 months won a "starting" job. I read stories of people meeting him that he was very well spoken and humble kid, I am looking forward to pulling for him!

Don't know if he'll start this year. They say he makes and gives up some big plays. I think Vinson and Evans will be our starters come Florida. WKU's depth chart is a teaser at some positions.

Vinson has been hurt too much this fall to start. That's why he isn't running first team.

This depth chart is all about recruiting... see AP/SI article

The publicity will be even better after the first game:

Headline -- "Freshman Shine in UT Victory over Western Kentucky"
"True Freshman Bryce Brown rushed for two touchdowns and fellow Freshman Nu'Keese Richardson added a 68 yard punt return as Tennessee ushered in the Lane Kiffin era with a 38-9 drubbing of Western Kentucky."

Promising kids early playing time and then delivering on the promise!
