I've been keeping up with the various practice reports and here's what I garner the depth chart might look like heading into the WKU game. To me, OL and LB are the two glaring spots where the depth is poor. But overall I feel the best I ever have about this team headed into the season. Feel free to point out any possible errors or post your own depth chart.

QB - Crompton, Stephens
RB - Hardesty, B. Brown, Poole, Oku
FB - Cooper, A. Johnson
WR1 - Jones, Teague
WR2 - Hancock, Moore, Z. Rogers
WR3 - Warren, Richardson
TE - Stocker, Cottam, Bartholomew
LT - Scott, Schofield, Brimfield
LG - Richard, Revis, Hood
C - McNeil, Cody Sullins
RG - McClendon, Pope
RT - Shaw, Douglas

LE - Martin, G. Williams, Fowlkes
NT - D. Williams, Walls, Sykes
DT - W. Brown, Hughes, V. Thomas
RE - Walker, Bohannon, Donald
SLB - Lathers, King, Thompson
MLB - N. Reveiz, Askew
WLB - McCoy, Frazier
CB1 - Evans, Rogan, Fleming
CB2 - Vinson, M. Johnson, A. Anderson
SS - Berry, Myles, Wilks
FS - Waggner, Jackson

KR - Teague, Rogan, Z. Rogers
PR - Richardson, Jones
P - Cunningham, Harrington
K - Lincoln

Only 2 things I have a problem with.

1.Oku has looked better than Brown so far.

2.I wouldn't put Teague ahead of Hancock just yet.

I think it looks good. Very similar to what I would have.

And at the RB position I think they are all interchangable. Not 1 through 4. At least not yet. Hardesty is going to start, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them all play.

No, way to early to say anything like that. It's a prediction anyway.

I understand it is a prediction, but a prediction you said you gathered from these first few days of practice. And so far Oku has looked better from most accounts.

RG - McClendon
RT - Douglas

I can't disagree with this (except that I don't think BB will bump Hardesty), but I'll say why mine is different.

QB - Brent Hubbs thinks Crompton is almost a near lock for starting QB at this point, so I'll trust someone whose seen every practice so far.

TE - I keep seeing Stocker's name pop up in articles, but haven't seen much of Cottam. I think they will both see the field plenty anyway.

RT - It was in a Rivals article today that Chaney and CLK were comfortable with their starting five at OL, which includes Shaw. I also remember reading that Douglas needs to put on some more muscle.

SLB - Thompson looked out of his league in the spring scrimmage. Plus I've read multiple reports this summer about Lathers starting to shine.

FS - From all first hand accounts, Waggner has been a beast this summer so I don't see JJ taking that away. Though I'm sure he'll get a good amount of playing time.

Orange Swarm, I think your depth chart is pretty spot on.

Crompton will without question start if he keeps up performances like today. I think Hardesty, Oku, Poole, Brown in that order.

I'd replace Hancock with Moore. Looks good everywhere else.

I'm with you but Moore won't be able to play the first week.

Thank you. I think Oku, Poole, and BB are options 1a-c (as someone pretty much said above). I would expect them to get approximately the same number of touches. And just curious, what have you read/heard that makes you think Moore over Hancock? Thanks

Only thing I disagree with is, I think Hughes is gonna beat out W. Brown at DT. Other than that you on point

Moore just seems to have better speed and hands. It certainly could go either way depending on the play call. For short routes like slants and out patterns, I'd go with Hancock and the deep ball with Moore.

First of all you're starting lineup on offense is 12 players. You either need to do a pro style set up with 2 WR or do a single back formation and add a 3rd wideout.

But assuming you are just using those players in random formations.... my other problems with your depth chart:

*Anthony Anderson will play alot. Noone has mentioned Marsalous Johnson. He may end up being a special teams player as a RS Senior, which is sad but true.

*Marlon Walls hasn't been cleared yet as far as I know, so he shouldn't be on there.

*Wes Brown is a RS Senior but with his injuries and trying to move to DT, he may have to come off the bench to relieve Hughes (at least until he can get to 100%).

*Also, as much as I want Bryce Brown to gain 15,000 yards in his 3 years at UT (haha), I think he will actually be 3rd string behind Poole. In my opinion, if the top 3 RBs play well enough, I would prefer Oku redshirt. I don't see that happening though. At worst he'll get mop up time (if we ever get a big lead on anyone) and return some kicks.

I agree with the above. Poole has been the best running back in spring and now fall. Hardesty is being played sparingly IMO to keep healthy. It will be Hardesty and Poole and then Oku in passing downs or other like plays. Of course Brown could get healthy and blow up and this could all change. Brown will get his chance when one of the guys Poole or Hardesty gets hurt. And RBs always get hurt for a game or two in a season. So he will get his carries. I do not think we will see Oku carry it much other then to keep D honest. Otherwise they will assume pass. Jackson at this point has no chance of beating out Waggner at FS. I do not think he is even the 2. He will likely play CB as a freshmen until he gains some muscle. I believe Kiffin said something to the affect he needs to bulk up. DE will be interesting. Martin seems unable to stay healthy so someone is going to get a shot there. I wonder who it will be?

If Martin can't stay healthy we could see Brown back at DE and Hughes at starting DT.

If Brown's knees are healthy then sure but they are not. I think it is Williams, Donald or someone else. I have not heard how Williams is doing at DE. Anyone know?

Looks good at this point except- Lathers is a MLB and won't move, Rogan will stay at safety and either start or back up Wagner. I also see Austin Johnson playing his way to a starting spot at fullback.

Heres a future UT defensive depth chart for you

DE Jaquezz Smith
DE Ronald Powell
DT Montori Hughes
DT Arthur Jeffery
OLB Jerod Askew
OLB Justin McCay
MLB Jeff Luc
CB Lamarcus Joyner
CB Janzen Jackson
SS Dietrich Riley
FS Darren Myles Jr.

Is it just me or could that defense possibly match the 1940 defense that gave up a grand total of ZERO points all year???
I'll be posting my future offense shortly
