I wish he would have stayed. wasn't there rumors about academic issues with him?

He probably would have been academically ineligible, so there was no reason for him to stay regardless of his NFL prospects.

He was just barely eligible for the '09 season.

Was slightly above avg returner and cb at UT... Not an NFL talent in my opinion. Neither the skill set or size...JMO.. Hope someone takes a flyer on him though....

The more VOLS in the NFL the better...

Picked up by Tampa Bay as a FA.
Monte must have put in a good word for him & McCoy.

He will be working in an assembly line because he was lazy to study and he's not good enough to go to the NFL...
Have fun enjoying the bed you've made for yourself Dennis!

You guys can make fun at this post if you want, but there is a lot of truth here. Rogan had a free ride and a chance for a free college education. He screwed up. He didn't take his education serious and that is why he is in the shape he's in. Someone posted he has a kid. Well, he apparently was being irresponsible there too, or that wouldn't have happened. There are ways to prevent that you know. I wish Rogan the best and I hope he makes it big in the NFL because he was a Vol, but some people bring things on themselves and they have to take responsibility for their actions.

By the way, for the people that took shots at the Sport Management major, that's not an easy one. It requires several upper-level business classes. If the football players are looking for something easy, that's not the major to pick.

Are you suggesting that the old staff is, in fact, NOT trying to screw over UT at every turn? The Orange Overalls are going to be disappointed.

No one wants to pardon his mistakes. Sounds to me like he's doing the one thing he can do. Trying to get a paycheck playing fball. My point was not to "kick him while he's down" by calling him a "MORON" and telling him to essentially spend the rest of his life being worthless and hopeless. I think he's got a legot shot to turn his life around (assuming he hasn't already, we really don't know isht.) Let's root him on in changing the pattern for his family's sake, instead of calling him names and calling his doom. I'd like to think were better people than that.

Dennis is far from a moron. Is he a good student, no, but for you that don't have a clue, learning starts much earlier than high school and college. As for him not understanding what a "free ride" means, I doubt you'll find many kids who understand that more than he does. He simply couldn't keep up with college because he never had the foundation required to do so.

He played his heart out in high school and again at Tennessee and then did the only thing he could do and that was go pro. He'll make a roster. He's proven it time and time again, with how hard he works it will be difficult to keep him off the field.

It is what it is.
Monte has some pull in the NFL. Lane also must of put in a good word for Q. Hancock. I guess they must care a little bout their players after all.

.

I'm not so sure I'm buying this. I know for a fact that he had access to every possible resource avaliable to help him in the class room. The university goes WAY out of their way to provide help for their student athletes who struggle in class. Besides that, it's not like he was majoring in astro physics. Unless Rogan is completely illiterate, there's no reason why he couldn't have worked hard enough to get through college. Believe me, I work with plenty of college-educated people who are complete morons! To say he dropped out of college because he CAN'T do it is a cop out.

Another thing, if Rogan can learn the complicated defensive schemes he's going to be required to know in the NFL, he can pass a few college level classes to earn a degree in sports medicine. If he truly is thinking of his kid, he needs to get that education! Rogan is not Eric Berry and he is going to struggle MIGHTILY to earn a spot on the Tampa Bay roster. What's he going to do when his probable short NFL career is over?

Based off of his competition, I putting my money on him making that team. Clifton Smith has the return duties locked up but they need someone to go along with him and the CB's aren't very experienced behind the starters. Even if he doesn't make the team, practice squad and UFL are both better than sitting behind a desk for some. He doesn't have the measurables but Rogan is a FOOTBALL player.

I think he meant family home life as a foundation, not what was available to him at UT. I could be misinterpreting him but that is how I took it

Here is some info from this web site:

NFL Player Salaries

Minimum Salary
The CBA makes sure that it sets a minimum NFL player salary. The minimum salary is determined every year by the CBA. The minimum NFL player salary for a new player was US $295,000 in 2008 which went up to US $310,000 in 2009. This minimum NFL player salary, set by the CBA, increases as you start gaining experience in the league by completing seasons. Thus a player with more years of experience in the league would have a higher minimum salary than compared to a player with lesser years of experience behind his name.
