Dee Williams speculation.

The tackle he made on Pitt's first offensive play (I think) of the game when he tackled a WR behind the LOS while being blocked was one of the best tackles I've seen by a UT defender in years. He starts over Walker for a reason and that reason is pretty apparent.
That was a very good play no doubt. My point is it felt like I saw Walker more than McDonald in this game anyway. Walker also had the sack on 4th down on our 30ish yard line.

Banks had about 5 deflections Saturday. SMDH
I’ll give him credit for that. Apparently that was a gameplan the coaches put in either before the game or during the game. But did you also see the missed assignments In pass coverage and then there was the performance in week 1 where I believe Banks was the lowest graded performer on our defensive unit.

We, as *fans*, also don't know where's he's asked to be or what area or player is his responsibility on a given play. His step slow could be covering the end of another player's zone. He could just be a step slow. But he played his ass off last year and deserves some respect for it. He's a very solid LB for us. And the "but the person fouls" comments should really stop. It's like he's had one every game he's ever played. He hasn't had a single one this year, and there were less last year than the year before. He's growing up, and has made the most of his opportunities.

Banks is night and day from when he first got here. I have gained so much respect for him these last 2 years. Dude can’t really pass cover at all lol but any runs close to him he absolutely destroys people.

Agree, he's an old school run stuffer strong side lb type. The problem is, modern play requires coverage abilities. If he can progress to the league, he might find a home and be better there in the right defensive scheme.

He did. And it was a great call. Walker ran straight to the QB unimpeded on a blitz from the edge and tackled the QB from behind without the QB ever seeing him. I don’t think it mattered who was playing star on that play. Any SEC DB can run in a straight line unimpeded to the QB who doesn’t see him. It was the call, not the player. McDonald’s play, on the other hand, was a great individual play that most would not make.

I've seen improvement in both Banks and Beasley. I was really tough on Beasley during the off season after last year, but I've been pleasantly surprised by his play. Banks is slapping hands and helping dudes up rather than punching and body slamming them.

So sorry. Not. His hot head has been a problem.
He looks like he is staying in his lane this season.

He has had issues with personal fouls. If you have watched him, he helps up everyone he tackles and usually last them.on the head. He's been doing that last season and two games this year. He's not the same guy who got arrested. He's dedicated and a hard worker. The hot head is the old Banks. We get to watch the new Banks and he's playing pretty good for us.

Did he do anything good in your eyes? Everyone made mistakes and blew assignments. Hooker missed a TD when he over threw Tillman. OL missed picking up blitzes resulting in sacks. Burrell held in the end zone and still gave up the TD. Yes, he not as good as a CB in coverage, but he's better than any LB we have in coverage.

Don’t smoke weed, it’s counterproductive long term physically and mentally. Have you been smoking it? What makes you think Banks is as good as some of you believe? His performance ratings are below average and he routinely makes assignment errors.
Maybe you should start. The position is clicking better because of the chemistry developed last year when Banks and Beasley were forced to play together so much because other than Page, they were it. Their communication is really good. I remember you being a Banks hater for a couple of years, that's on you. If you are willing to replace a proven experienced starter with a kid who has shown nothing so far, maybe you should contact the coaching staff. They may offer you an analyst position for thinking so outside the box. Look at the bright side, next year you may get your wish after JB moves on. Having a good partner means both LB's can work together rather than as individuals. They remain in their gaps and play more controlled, as in fewer blown assignments and penalties. Aaron is better because he has learned the position. A TB and safety in HS, one yr. in Pruitt's defense, then a new system last yr. I for one am not at all surprised in his development.

Beasley can still be benched, but if he continues to progress then he makes it hard. He has trouble getting off blocks so I think that's why he is a blitz man which he seems to excel at.

He, and Banks still let a RB bust through for 76 yards without getting close to touching him. Banks still busted a coverage on the TE 50+ yard TD.
Pretty sure Banks was in coverage that play, you also have a safety who is responsible also for that area, just a deeper zone. Yeah Banks needs to up the coverage aspect, but I'll be willing to bet no other LB on the roster is ready to take that role. BTW the safety got hurdled on that pass play, The LB only gets blame for part of that 50+ yd TD.

Banks is the best LB on the team maybe unless Mitchell comes back.

Just think where we would have been last week if the charges were not dropped against Beasley........remember kittygate.
