I think it was more or less his production at Texas and add in the facts fans for some reason don't respect Banks.Banks is a Vfl in my book no matter what the negas say.Beasely coming along has quieted some of the noise but our depth isn't great so Mitchell would be a well added bonus rite now.Kid can't seem to get out of his own way.

What folks really need to worry about is next year..Sh*t getz really sketchy when our starters n depth are gone...I suspect we hit the portal hard for lb help.
Who the hell doesn’t like Jeremy Banks?!

If what we have heard from Camp is true and Mitchell has improved so much with understanding our D and now is truly healthy then we need the added depth of this position .Banks in Pass coverage still gets confused and takes bad angles. The TE for Pitt touchdown was on him and one other time on 3rd and long the RB was his he knew this and still let the guy cross his face bad leverage because the Secondary had done there job and this was last resort for QB before he would get sacked. Now he made plays as well so I like Banks and if we can add One more who can make plays in Mitchell this is huge Bonus for the D. IN CHRIST Alone.

I like banks intensity however who ever helps us win games and gives us the best shot to win the game then they need to be playing as much as they can. I don't care who plays as long as they play great and do what it takes for us to win

Is this a joke? McDonald is awesome.
He's been fine, but I think people are over reacting to his very first play of the season with the int. He's given up a few big plays and picked up a PI on Saturday as well. Walker has been better thus far to me. Neither have been fantastic though, but neither have been close to bad either.

I'm interested in Mitchell and Williams because of depth. In the SEC games, in all games really, with our tempo on offense the defense can get gassed from being on the field quickly after a score or 3 and out. Depth is important.

What we see with good SEC teams is the ability to have very little dropoff when the next man up gives a starter a breather. Mitchell and Williams can be useful for us and that's why we need them healthy/focused for games.

He hasn't had one of those in the past 7 games....🙄.
Stop living in the past
No he hasn't but his coverage is skeptical. Multiple times the RB came out of the backfield and you can see him acknowledge him but not cover him. At least two of those went for first downs. One I recall was a critical possession in the 4th. Maybe his assignment was outside my realm of knowledge, but he was the only defender anywhere close and did not pursue any coverage on him. They easily completed the pass and the RB ran for a critical first down.

The problem is that you don't know what his assignment was on those plays. He got his hands on passes a few times in the Pitt game. That indicates they had him filling throwing lanes when they blitzed.... which would mean he couldn't follow a RB or WR sent to "run him off".

Agree as I acknowledged in my comment regarding his assignment. This particular play the receivers were well passed the first down markers as it was a 3rd down play. The RB was the only eligible receiver in his view unless he was spying the backup QB (which we know wasn't the case). I thought he played well minus a few coverage issues. We can nitpick our D all day long. The bottom line is that the D won us that game in the 2nd half.

Mitchell had a 2 game suspension for off field issues. Coming off his season last yr, why people are so focused on him at this point is beyond me.

We're super thin at LB and Banks is a huge liability in coverage. I haven't seen enough if Mitchell to know if he's any better in that regard, but he would be hard pressed to be much worse.
