Regarding the Karen in NYC...i came across this apt description of class awareness weeks ago...the author lives within walkin distance from my spot. -Ironbound - very diverse neighborhood--old Portuguese, Brazilian, pan-latino-black and white from generations ago...but who's counting-am I right:
"In Newark, I don’t have to worry about a Cooper calling the police to harass me. People like her, who see melanin as an implied threat, are already terrified of a neighborhood like mine in Newark. This city’s reputation precedes it and acts like a forcefield keeping people like her away. She’d ask for the manager because the barista doesn’t speak English, only to find out the manager won’t speak English either. I love this city, precisely because it’d make every Amy Cooper uncomfortable. That’s why I feel home."
I will add this addendum ...there were no riots in Newark in 2020. There are good people here- AMERICANS... If i may remind the bigots in the room..The historical memory is strong here from 1967.
"A message eventually went out, spread by younger residents, that it was time for anyone who did not live in Newark to leave, according to clergy members, community leaders and police officials present during the standoff.
“If you ain’t from here, you’d better get out,” Mr. Sherrills said.
