Debord to Indiana as OC

Nick Sheridan is leaving to CMU as well

Rivals: I know Austin mentioned this on Friday morning, but it got lost in the gameday stuff. But I have confirmed it again today with another source that Nick Sheridan is leaving. Sheridan has gotten a full time position at Central Michigan.

Boggles the mind that UT would allow Butch to revamp the staff before hiring the AD.

:question::question::question:
Chip Kelly: Discussing his future with Fox Sports’s Jay Glazer he’s happy to be an assistant coach moving forward. “I’ll go be an offensive coordinator somewhere,” Kelly said, according to Glazer.

Obviously you failed to understand my post.

You, me, and everyone can say whatever the hell we want. There aren't but a few if that who know anything and they're still wrong too so what difference does it make?

It's what I think will happened based on history with Butch. Nothing more nothing less

History? The same history where he ditched Jancek for Shoop? Yeah, that clearly indicates CZA or Scott is getting OC like you've claimed many times in this thread.

We set a single season record with 473 points and 63 touchdowns this season. But, he's not a good coordinator. You guys are just hell bent on a NAME. Some don't like Debord because they don't like Butch.

This last sentence was the main problem a lot on here had with Debord.

Coach Debord did a he** of a job here IMO. I think our offense was very productive the last 2 years. We will miss him next season. I think OC is the most complained about job in football, people are never happy. You can call the perfect play and your LG slips on the turf and misses his block, bad play call. Your WR ran a 11 yard out instead of a 10 yard out, so the QB underthrows him, bad play call. I hope our next OC is great and we average 45 points a game, but I guarantee you that next season people will bit** and raise he** :realmad:about the OC just like they always do.

Anthony Lynn, Buffalo Bills. Media feels the HC job at Buffalo is his to lose. He's acting interim since Rex Ryan was fired. Has the Bills leading the NFL in rushing. May not be able to get along with GM over issues involving Tyrod Taylor and may be wanting out. This is a sure-fire well liked up and coming OC with HC potential. I hope UT interviews him. Ask Peyton M. Also prefers a simplified playbook.

Would be the best hire possible but he is not leaving a Bills HC job to come here. Sorry.

You contradicted yourself. He's the best hire "possible" but it's impossible that he's coming here? :pilot:

If Butch brings him in, he almost certainly would let him do his thing. You don't bring in a guy who has more national name recognition than you do and handcuff him. And Helfrich wouldn't take the job if he thinks he will be handcuffed.

If I'm JG I would be over the moon about the chance he might come here.

My first thought was "why the hell would Gruden care about any of this?"

Just a reflex..

If Helfrich does indeed come and the offense is still stagnant then you know it's Butch having too much control. Helfrich is an excellent OC and QB coach. He played a huge role in developing Mariota who was a three star recruit.

I would guess part of the terms of Helfrich's hire would be he has control. He's getting tons of money from Oregon. Why would he come here to be told how to run the offense and what plays to call by CBJ. If he comes here I'd say he's in the offensive drivers seat. JMO.

No. There is a difference between poor play execution (which is what you are describing) and poor play calls.

DeBord was quite bad at the latter.

No way Butch brings in someone he can't have offensive control over. Helfrich is a smarter offensive mind than Butch and Butch's ego can't handle that. I bet Larry Scott gets the nod. Alabama has a former HC as its OC and we're gonna end up with a guy who's never called plays. That's the difference between us and Bama right now

My brain agrees with you but my heart hopes we go get Helfrich. Scott has made it well known he wants to be a head coach and seems to be on that path. If we promote him we will more than likely be hiring a new OC in the next year or two.
