DeBord is coming (merged)

Sorry I didn't get your approval to post such displeasure on a public message board.
Sorry that I expect better for Tennessee football than a bargain bin buy at dollar tree.
Sorry that I expect better from Butch and this will intimately sink his ship.

did the people laugh?

then why don't you have a coke and a smile and shut the **** up....

jk:p

Well I'd like to know

In the coaching community he is extremely well regarded.

Don't just look at the past and his numbers.

He is a good fit for this team.

Our O line play will be so much better.

Plus, Butch is going to shuffle a few things IMO.

What's intimate about a sinking ship?

Sounds Freudian.

dumb dumb dumb.......DeBord was the head coach at Central Michigan when current Tennessee coach Butch Jones was a running backs coach and offensive coordinator for the Chippewas......he's been in an administrative role at Michigan the past two years......qualified---not even

Spoke to cbj I understa know. Z is being groomed for oc also he knows vn is "concerned"

Debord:
"Say, Butch....you remember when you had no coordinator experience at this level and I gave you your first big shot, at Cent. Mich."

Butch:

"Yes, Mike, I do....and I want you to know I'm extremely grateful for it."

Debord:

"Well, as fate would have it, I've been out of coaching work for few years, now for some strange reason nobody's even called me about an OC job since Lloyd Carr and I got canned in 2007....and I hear that Bajakian has moved on to Tampa.

Butch:
"Uhhhhhh, yeah, annnnnnnd?"

Debord:
"And now would be a really good time to return the favor....ole buddy of mine! Sound good?"

Butch:
"Uuuuuhhhhhh....Mike....I ahhh, uuuuhhhhh. Well, you see, I haven't even had a chance to start a formal search and all, and these fans here in Tennessee...they're the most passionate fanbase in the country, but that means they'll also roast me on the grille if I don't get us some Wins in the SEC, soon. And my boss, Dave Hart, well he...."

DeBoring:
"Great! It sounds like a plan then. When do I start as your new Offensive Coordinator?"

Butch:
"Uuuuuuuhhhh. Maybe we should hold off until NSD. I'm hearing a lot of rumbling around here, and we wouldn't want to stall the momentum we have in recruiting."

For those of you who say he could have done better, please give me a list of coaches with the following:

Experience as an OC
Experience in front of 100k+ fans
Experience in both the spread and power running offenses
Experience in coaching OLines (our biggest weakness)
Experience playing at the highest level of college football
Willing to set aside his own playbook so that we don't force our players to learn another system

Let us see your list.

This. Plus willing to keep all or most of offensive staff. Plus that national championship ring will look pretty nice in living rooms while on in-home visits, I don't care what year is on it.

With the guy's age taken into consideration, he seems to be a stop-gap until either Azzanni is groomed to take over, or a younger hire is made.

Again all I was getting at was everyone using the he won a title at UM defense is pointless.

Never said it was a bad hire or that I was upset about it. Just not thrilled either. Wait and see mode it is for me.

Fair enough. That defense was ridiculous that year true enough but you have to give the offense a little credit. I believe the RBs were at a 4.5 YPC average and QB had a QBR of 140. Let's just forget that though and give the offense no credit for the National Title. Go to the next time UM legitimately contended for a National Title, the UM offense was 26th in PPG in the nation and pretty dynamic. Ohio State would defeat them by a field goal and eventually go on to be clown stomped by UF.

If we are even mediocre this year on offense with better line play and protection it is much better than what we put on the field last season. Add even a decent offense to the defense we're putting together and this team will consistently contend. I think people assume we need to have an offense like Oregon to win the National Title; remind again how many titles that program has in their trophy case. This will still be a spread offense with more power running elements in it. It will play to the defense and special teams. You can hate it but we're about to win a bunch of games with what you hate.

If people were placing bets on who would be griping more when DeBord was actually hired, how many would have went all in on us two?

Probably right... but not the smart money.

For the most part, we criticize things that have happened... not things that we speculate.

Hendrix left the program and most likely because of his relationship with the staff. They didn't want to lose him... and he would have contributed. That happened and was worthy of criticism.... as did the Vandy loss and the two UF losses.

DeBord may or may not fail... but none of the handwringers have any way of "knowing" that he will fail.

So, Jones has interest from Michigan, supposedly, and, shortly thereafter, gets a raise from Tennessee. Michigan's head coaching search is run by DeBord, who is, shortly thereafter, hired by Tennessee as OC, despite having shaky credentials.

Hmm, sounds a little fishy to me.
