Death by Fanbase

You reap what you sow.........or at least what others have sown. It really sucks knowing that we have the most delusional fanbase in college football.

I said it months ago....Chip ain't coming. Gruden ain't coming. If you make a change, make it with a coach in the bag. Fanbase demanded immediate change. The boycott. The Rock.

And since when in this country are you now considered guilty even when you've been cleared? Since Clay Travis said so? Geez people. Schiano was probably as qualified as we were going to get. What coach in their right mind would step into this cesspool, especially given ANY other option?

Freaking heartbreaking. This program was just set back another decade........if we're lucky.

Death by incredibly stupid Vol fans (and those who like their posts) who even remotely are insinuating that we should have kept Botch,

Regardless, it’s Rutgers. Even now they have had crappy seasons these last 3 years. That’s like trying to polish a pile of crap and calling it gold afterwards.

Butch had great seasons with the bear cats. Look at how he did in SEC play? We don’t need a Butch 2.0.

And even if the Penn State stuff doesn’t matter, GS has some shade because of it. Way before the vols ever considered him as an option. Shade impacts recruiting, performance, and overall any chance of success a program may have.

Yeah but he polished that pile of crap into a team that went 11-2 and was ranked as high as 7th in the country. Check out that 2006 season, it was pretty crazy: 2006 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team - Wikipedia

Not the same comparing BJ to GS for many reasons. First, tho is that BJ failed bc he couldnt coach O at this lvl and wouldnt let an OC run the O. His simple offense worked at a lower lvl, but the DCs in SEC ate him alive. GS is a defensive guy, and is having great success in the Big 10. Also, Rutgers is way worse than Cinci and GS had achieved a higher lvl of success for longer at a worse school. Consider that Butch never even coached a team of his own players a Cinci. I am not confident whether GS great here or not but I am sure he wasnt anything like BJ.

As to your PSU comment, Id simply say look at the University itself. They seem to be recruiting and performing just fine.

Dude has a couple of accounts and is just posting bull crap.

Kind of pathetic really.

Sure buddy, just keep going through life calling "conspiracy" every time someone says something you disagree with. Not everyone has the same IQ you do. But hey......if it makes you sleep better at night, have at it.

Schiano was ONE GAME above .500 at Rutgers a bs conference, had an abysmal record in the nfl, and voted the worst coach to play for.
And butch beat the shat out of him if you want to compare those two idiots.
Schiano was and is a BS hire.
I realize you have an agenda to push, but those are facts you don’t get to gloss over. I’m glad fans rebelled against Haslam and currie’s ineptness!

If GS was so special, why didn’t he stay with the Rutgers longer? Why was he not offered a HC job after his “prestigious” NFL career?

As for recruiting, there was already serious foreshadowing of commits jumping ship if Schiano was official.

Why didn't he stay at Rutgers? He went to the NFL. Just like saban and Spurrier, he didn't have the best luck in the NFL. He then, took a couple years to gather himself, went to osu for two years as dc, and was just offered a hc job, until a bunch of misinformed nuts ran him off. Bs on losing recruits

Death by Administration, 4 bad coaching hires and almost a 5th, fans are irate and change must happen at the top, starting with Haslem, Davenport and Currie.

We only have our voice and our pocketbooks to force change at UT, let's get it done:)

Preach my brother.. This fan base is crazy. Im speechless about all this. You complained about butch jones, but u going to get another butch jones type of a coach now.. smh

We were about to get the best coach available to us, you thought restricted jack wads ended that. This is on the fans, pathetic

As if Schiano, whom Butch slaughtered head to head and who has the same roid-man personality as Butch multiplied by 1000 wasn't Butch 2.0.

Schiano had one good year- one- at Rutgers. What did he do in the 5 YEARS following that one good season? New Jersey is a relatively talent rich state and the dude's best finish in the Big Least was a tie for second- and he finished behind UConn most of his career.

Ice that cake with his ties to Penn State and his disastrous career in Tampa (combined with his players hating his guts) and we've got a big steaming pile of sh*t to step in.

Your brand of idiocy is why we're in this mess- not the fans that raged against the hire.

We're delusional?

What's delusional?

That we are tired of certain elites and their cronies using this athletic department as their private country club? They're the same people who complained 34 years ago when I was a student at UT about the student section being too loud and rowdy. Now, they figure that if they take away seats and make more luxury spaces they can have their enjoyable parties and with a crappy team not be bothered by football.

Are we delusional because we believe that we are entitled to have as good a football program as Bama, Florida or Georgia? At least as good as Clemson. No. The elites over there now have us demonstrably below the intramural football team at Vanderbilt.

Are we delusional because we want our administration to at least make a real effort to land a huge name as a football coach?

Are we delusional because we don't want want an individual of questionable character and skill rammed down our throats, and then when we object our AD issue a statement bragging about how he's right and we're wrong.

Are we delusional because we believe a booster who has proven he can't run an NFL team shouldn't wield so much power over our beloved Vols?

Maybe we are delusional, but the only alternative is complete apathy. We're only delusional because we care too much.

Schiano was never going to be able to recruit and win at Tennessee and Vol fans recognized this immediately:popcorn:

I hate to say this but this look just like the Butch hire doing the same old same old
So don’t be surprised if you see him trotted out on stage

I think Schiano is badass and would have made us proud.

I agree the program may have been set back a decade, but it's not because of the Tennessee fans, get real:good!:

This is not on the fan base. The AD had no business putting that man on the long list, much less the short list, of potential coaching hires. I'm not here to speculate whether the man was guilty or not have anything. But there is a specter of guilt that hangs over anybody related to that program. Our program has deep deep issues that need to be corrected by a really good coach. And bringing a coach on board with that kind of cloud hanging over them is the last thing this program needed. The fanbase really showed their ass over this issue but that was because they were forced to. The AD had no business putting the fanbase in that position.
