Death by Fanbase

You reap what you sow.........or at least what others have sown. It really sucks knowing that we have the most delusional fanbase in college football.

I said it months ago....Chip ain't coming. Gruden ain't coming. If you make a change, make it with a coach in the bag. Fanbase demanded immediate change. The boycott. The Rock.

And since when in this country are you now considered guilty even when you've been cleared? Since Clay Travis said so? Geez people. Schiano was probably as qualified as we were going to get. What coach in their right mind would step into this cesspool, especially given ANY other option?

Freaking heartbreaking. This program was just set back another decade........if we're lucky.

His Penn St. involvement aside (because no one know if he did or did not know anything was going on besides him & Jesus)... I didn’t want him here b/c he’s a sad excuse for a football coach & person. MRSA issues in Tampa that continued being issues, Josh Freeman situation, cheap bush league shots at QB’s in victory formation, & his building the Rutgers program was in Conference USA (I believe the whole big least Conference USA merger has me confused who was where...) not an overwhelming statement on ones resume... I personally find his potential hire as a slap in the face to the fans who spend hard earned money by the university... I don’t necessarily thinj it’s Gruden or bust m & I certainly never wanted Chip Kelly here either. I just want a quality individual capable of developing young men into good football players (who don’t cheat & take cheap shots) & upstanding members of a community. There’s no way GS fits that bill.

Well he did do wonders for Rutgers the doormat of college football.
the 2006 season, Schiano's Scarlet Knights raced off to a 9-0 record, highlighted by their November 9 victory over the third-ranked, undefeated Louisville Cardinals. After this game, Rutgers jumped to seventh in the national AP Poll, which was their highest ranking in school history and first Top 25 ranking since 1976.[5] The euphoria from the win and high ranking quickly faded the following week with a loss to Cincinnati, but Scarlet Knights bounced back to finish 11-2 and qualify for the inaugural Texas Bowl.[6] There, they would defeat the Kansas State Wildcats 37–10, capturing their first ever bowl game win in school history.
What were his career numbers? Not just one year with a great player.

Shiano? The best we could get???!! Bwa ha ha ha ha!

That is a foolish thing to say.

1. Guilty or not, Tennessee hiring Shiano is the very best negative recruiting fact opposing coaches could have. Innocent until proven guilty don't mean squat in a recruits parents minds. Guilt by association will.

2. Players hated him.
3. Fans hated him.
4. Sportswriters blasted him and wrote demeaning articles...ask yourself, What's a "Shiano Man"?

.."“There’s not much respect for him,” said one Bucs player who played under Schiano. Said another: “Guys didn’t like coming to work.” Players spoke of “fear and distrust” in the locker room. “Schiano Men” became a punchline.

A coach with middling results who’s disliked by everyone he’s worked with? Why would Tennessee ever even consider assuming the baggage that Schiano brings, especially when there are so many perfectly fine candidates out there."...

..."A Schiano Man doesn't consider "a little choking" to be spousal abuse."...

..."A Schiano Man never jaywalks, and forcibly prevents others from jaywalking."...

..."A Schiano Man refuses to use the self-service checkout machine at the grocery store, because he doesn't like "that computer *****'s" tone."...

And in the NFL he lost twice as many as he won. But I’m college in a weak ass conf he only lost one more than he won. For ten years

Hell I should get a raise. I don’t screw it up at my job that much. Maybe I’ll become a millionaire

Agree...but they are oblivious to their foolishness. Sad day

So you believe this guy was the right choice

I don’t and I will not back anymore poor attempts to force someone that we know isn’t a good choice on us.

No more if my money will be spent on the University of Tennessee when they expect me to take a product that is no good

He was guilty of being a terrible coach (based on his record and what former players said).

Why are some defending the shiano hire? Listen, I’ll agree that I believe 60% of this is a cover for the Vols just thinking he’s not a good enough coach for our program, which is true. The other 40% is peoples “ moral obligation” even though this guy was guilty of nothing, as far as we know. I am one of the people who want no part of it due to there being any chance he knew of uncle bad touch Sandusky time. However I do believe if this has been a championship winning coach many would have turned a blind eye. But we don’t have to argue that because it’s not the case. Schiano was just bad on all sides. Morals (possibly) and coaching( see record).

really? inexplicable? you are 100% correct on the facts of that case as we know them. that doesn't mean that we have to just say "ok, cool"? and it doesn't mean that we should just buy the fact that any real work was done to see how this would go over...i think it's apparent to say whatever work they did do in that arena, wasn't enough.

cause fact is, NO ONE else was hitting him up this off season....even with all the openings.

just us. and per the OSU athletic director, Currie contacted him about 3 weeks ago about Schiano....which is before Jones was fired. so really, how much effort was put in to this search? or was he led by the nostrils to columbus by some very influential people in a place, like say, Cleveland?

either way.........

Lol, the wolves are in such a frenzy, they're actually turning on themselves. I'm thinking the guy was in agreement with you.

OP, give up. It's like the brown shirts. If you have a different opinion, you are called names, told to go away, having your loyalty questioned, etc. You really can't win with a mob. Best to just walk away so these guys can continue on with their self-congratulations party.

Yes, I think he would have done good here.

The fanbase has kept UT on life support for several years now, and you figure its their fault?

Question still stands- what in his previous coaching stops leads you to believe he would’ve been a success here?

Getting called a Nazi by someone who regurgitates UTAD talking points without question is the height of irony.

You're absolutely right Diego. Mob rules. Meanwhile the rest of the country mocks them and the coach of Duke U (not to be confused with the Basketball Program) just turned down the "dream job" at UT. These idiots think I was defending Schiano.....he was never even on my list. What I attempted to point out to these folks was that they have created such a toxic environment that a coach would have to be desperate to step foot here. But.....it just goes straight over their heads. God help us.

I hope none of these sportscasters calling social media a "mob" don't ever run for President.

Shut up!
Schiano is a trash hire. Accepting him was accepting mediocrity. I’ll take my chances and the heat and at least go down swinging

Actually, I don't think it is even a good example of irony at all.

I just went through ten pages of posts (what is that, 180-200?) that sound like a paper has been distributed to each and every one of you with your talking points and you speak of regurgitation?

Everybody is pretty much saying the same things over and over, except for the slight changes in name calling, your obligatory STFU or GTFO, and a good deal of references to ball sacks and gonads.

A real ragtag bunch. And I don't even like Schiano lol.

Not all of us are in that category
I stated my opinion
I didn’t believe he was a good coach and I will not let my 9 year old daughter attend Tennessee until Tennessee gives me a reason to believe they want a superior product on the field and in the University
I had my chance to go to Tennessee but choose to be a father
My oldest went to Tennessee and was proud he did
Now my voice speaks as a person that loves the University and will not accept any sub par coaching hires
And I believe he was a subpar coaching hire
