If I were Kiffin, I'd choose not to do an interview with MD as well. If not for how they spoke ab me before I was hired, it would be bc of all of the reasons everyone has posted thusfar. I'd like to see him do an interview with Hooker, or Hubbs more than anyone else on 99.1.
And I know this was posted elsewhere, but will west needs to have more on air time.

Maybe I've got it wrong but I thought the issue was that Kiffin hadn't done an interview with ANYONE on the Animal, not just Dearstone's show. I'll again say it just strikes me odd that a new coach has gone this long without an actual interview with the largest local sporting radio station in his new town.*
*So nobody is confused let me make something clear. For all I care Kiffin could run the team via satellite from a secret bunker in Patagonia as long as we're winning games.

In contrast to what MD was saying about the fans "wanting an interview" and the importance of the local media to Kiffin's job, I would rather seem him on the road and on ESPN. Lane doesn't need to sell the football program to UT fans like Pearl did basketball. The grills will be blazing and the stadium full come September, whether Kiffin plays golf with Mickey, or not. TRUE fans and supporters of the program are thrilled to see him on the trail grabbing up NFL-caliber coaches and stealing the staff and recruits of our rivals.
It sounds to me like the "Animals" are sour that they no longer have good ole' Phil in their backpocket to take up airtime with the same meaningless coachspeak. And, the notion that an appearance on their joke of show is somehow more important to Kiffin's success than making national media appearances ranks amongst Dearstone's most absurd comments. (I know there's a lot of competition there: Candace Parker being able to take on men's hoops players, him being able to hit Abbott, etc.)
So, let the radio goofs whine and complain like spoiled children. I'll take my coach in Urban's backyard with a few jabs at the washed-up Spurrier to go, thank you.
Go get 'em, Kiff.
"They" was supposed to be collective for 99.1. IIRC, the only sportscasters on 99.1 that weren't so overly opposed to the hiring were Hooker and Adams... John and Jimmy were against it, as was MD. Jimmy Hyams went as far as saying he thought "it would be a huge mistake to hand over the program to Kiffin", and that he would be "utterly surprised if Kiffin was named HC".. It wasn't until after it was announced that they seemed to be ok with it... my favorite is how confident Hyams was it wasn't going to be Kiffin and how proud he was to "be the one who broke the news"
