No I was busy. My best friends bf gave her a dog for a gift after being an ass. The dog is registered and microchipped to the bf. he moved out earlier this week n told her she could have that dog and a dog that belonged to him and his daughter.

He's badgered her for 4 days trying to get some type of emotional reaction from her and hasn't gotten one. So today he texts n tells her he is taking the gift dog but she could keep his daughters dog. She went off n told him no, that he had abandoned them both n she was keeping her dog, he could have his. Then he threatened to take her to court.

She bought all the toys food etc for the dog. How will this work out if it goes to court?

I am not a lawyer. I am not licensed in your state or any state. Do not rely upon my opinion as legal advice. Always consult an ABA certified attorney.

I am not the best at contract law, but since it was a non-conditional gift, she should be fine.

He ain't gonna do ****. He's just bluffing. Even if he took her to small claims court, he wouldn't win. If I were the judge I'd let the girl keep it. Even though he had it registered and ****, he gave it to her. Have your friend document when she got it, under what circumstances, what all she's done for it, etc. the judge will see right through his BS.

My co-counsel Nerd is correct

The judge should tell them that the dog is to be cut in half. Each person getting half the dog. Then the true owner will stop the judge and insist the dog go to the other person just to save the dog's life. The judge will then determine the "true" owner is the person who wanted the dog to live no matter who owns it.

Old Testament FTW.
