Coleman is a selfish child, cut ties and file a lawsuit to recover money if he broke anything in the contract.

If he didn’t break anything in the contract, you need the fire of the idiot that wrote the contract that’s supposed to represent the best interest of UT.
This I agree with. Others calling him a thug is too far.

Selfish child? Yup! You nailed it!

Let’s operate under the assumption that Coleman won’t play here (based on the news today).

Carter Gooden6’5â€255 lbsEDGEFreshman

Kedric Golston II6’4â€260 lbsEDGEFreshman

Here is what we have at EDGE. How bad does this hamper our D? We were gutted in the portal at end.

Any of our massive stable of LBs move down?

(sorry for the one weird column… did it on AI)

But that is razor thin, and 100% unproven.
You listed a bunch of guys who don’t play Edge, then left off the guys who do. Everyone you named except Golston is a strong side DE.

The Edges are Norman, Gass, Golston, Harris, and Edwards. Carter and Gooden might play on both sides. Maybe Zach Groves too. But at their size, Carter, Gooden, and Groves are primarily strong side.

My thought is move Telander to edge. With the linebacker room being full of studs, all quicker than Telander, move him down and put about 20 more lbs on him. He is a good tackler, has a good football IQ and toughness.
I’d rather see this done with Perlotte. He has the length to play Edge, but needs more weight.

Ok then…

Gass lines up in the Jack position, but due to offense’s pre-snap look, audibles to coverage.

Is he not then in the Will role?

I guess I said blitzing specifically, so you can have the win on your pedantry prance here, idc.

A Jack and an Edge are DEs. They are not Wills. A Will is a separate position. In the base 4-2-5, it’s the other LB next to the Mike. In a 4-3, it’s one of 3 LBs with the Mike and Sam.

In either case, you have an Edge on the field and a separate position called Will. Our starting Will is probably going to be Arion Carter. If you called the Edge/Jack a Will, then you’d have 2 Wills on the field at the same time. Which you don’t.

No, WILL is a term for Weak Inside Linebacker. The Jack is always to the strong side of the formation. And it’s called a Jack because he should be athletic enough to rush or drop into coverage so he’s a “Jack of all trades”

Nobody said a Will was a Jack or a Jack was a Will. I said they could bring pressure from Will, which they absolutely can. Whether Gass will ever do it, idk, but me mentioning the possibility really freaked that guy out.

It's possible we'd use a Jack or WDE, as in the context we were using it. But in that case we'd have a SAM type guy on the other side. That's something we will do.

Look, fellas. You're not gonna teach me anything on this subject. I never even mentioned the word "Jack" until he did.

Let me clear this up.

We don’t use a "Jack" in our base look.

We call our primary EDGE a LEO.

Some schemes call that player a JACK.

Other more 3-4 based schemes have a Mike, Sam (Strong side LB), and a JACK on weak side which can function as a blitzer, sometimes called a WDE, in pass coverage in which case they’re functionally a Will… or blitzing thru B gap from their natural position— also still a Will.

We will have looks with a weak side blitzer and more of a Sam run stopper on the other side.

Its also possible to blitz linebackers on both sides, in which case the terminology of their positions don’t change based on their assignment.

I think we’ve cleared it up for you. A WDE is not functionally a WILL, just because he disguises and drops into pass coverage. He is simply a WDE/LEO/Jack (whatever you want to call it) who has dropped into coverage.

We’re going to say it one more time. A WILL is a WILL, and only a WILL, and will always be a WILL.

And I’m telling you a JACK is a walked up Will LB. Literally why the position was invented. But go off.

And a Will can’t blitz right? Thanks for the lesson.
You’re the only one who said that. Some of the most knowledgeable posters on this board have already reiterated my point and further showed you why you’re wrong. You can die on this hill if you want to. Have a nice day
